August Recess: Congress Heads Home

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) reminds its members and partners across the country that the annual August Congressional recess is now partially underway. Lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives left D.C. last week and the U.S. Senate is scheduled to follow suit soon. Both chambers will not return to Capitol Hill until after Labor Day.

This break in the legislative calendar presents a prime opportunity for MRF members to engage directly with their elected officials in their home districts and states. Whether it’s attending a town hall, scheduling a one-on-one meeting, or inviting a Member of Congress to a local motorcycle event, August offers a unique chance to advocate for the issues that matter most to the motorcycle community.

“This is our moment to speak directly to lawmakers while they’re back home and more accessible,” said Kirk “Hardtail” Willard, President of the MRF. “We encourage all MRF members to take full advantage of this recess to educate, advocate, and build relationships that can influence policy decisions in D.C.”

Now is the time to be proactive, vocal, and visible. The MRF stands ready to support members with resources and guidance for local outreach.
