26 Brother Speed motorcycles crash on I-5; traffic backs up for miles– WILSONVILLE — Members of the Brother Speed outlaw motorcycle club rolled into a bloody 26-bike crash on Interstate 5 north Friday afternoon, south of Wilsonville.
“When we arrived on scene, it was ordered mayhem,” said Lt. Mike Towner of Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue. “There were … two dozen motorcycles scattered across the freeway.”
Two bikers with critical injuries were flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center and OHSU Hospital in Portland. Seven other crash victims with less serious injuries were taken by ambulance.
The bikers were heading north to take part in the Portland chapter’s annual birthday bash and a weekend demolition derby, according to one law enforcement official.
Lt. Gregg Hastings, Oregon State Police spokesman, said 26 motorcycles were traveling north in the left lane, following a car, when traffic ahead began slowing. The car and the bikers all tried to slow down, but collided, piling up on the road. A vehicle in the middle northbound lane was reportedly struck by one of the motorcycles, Hastings said.
Karen Eubanks, TVF&R spokeswoman, said seven crash victims were treated for shoulder and hip injuries and broken bones. Two others were treated but refused to go to a hospital.

HEALTHCARE DEBATE–The part about this healthcare reform bullshit that scares me is that it will give them the excuse to control every aspect of our lives. Guns-forget about it they cost us too much money to patch you up. Motorcycles-forget about it they are too dangerous and will cost us too much money. Hell, I let women have too much control over me now; can’t afford to let anything else have any control over me… 😉

VALERIE THOMPSON, Team Marines Racing Team Report– Valerie Thompson ?America?s High-Speed Sweetheart? briefly holds Land Speed Record at the Bonneville Salt Flats
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (September 9, 2009) ? Team Marines Racing member and current NHRA Pro-Stock Motorcycle racer Valerie Thompson set her third land speed record at the famed Bonneville Salt Flats only to have it erased two days later. After running 151 mph on her first attempt, Thompson was planning to make her second (and most likely fastest) pass of the event when her team discovered a stress fracture on their bike. As a result, she was unable to better the record she had set two days earlier.
Thompson set her two previous land speed records riding for Keith Ball and the Bikernet.com team. She added a third record to her r?sum? in the A-PF 3,000cc class during the recent BUB International Speed Trial Event. The crew of Thompson?s NHRA Pro Stock team flew into Bonneville in order to support her ambitious efforts however Thompson was denied the customary six to eight runs during the week due to mechanical issues. As a result, another competitor was able to better the record she had set.

?I am disappointed for our sponsors, the team and the many people who have supported me,? said Thompson, ?The bike felt great on the first pass but on the return run I felt that something wasn?t quite right and I had to finesse the throttle at 168 mph to keep the bike steady otherwise we might have been able to go another 10-12 miles-per-hour faster. We fully expected to repair the bike and make another three or four passes but unfortunately we were unable to do so.
Valerie Thompson Racing also announced that the team is currently making plans to return to Bonneville with the Bikernet 5-Ball Racing team with a faster bike in 2010 in an effort to break the 200-mph barrier. In addition, the team will now focus on their NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle program and are in the process of attempting to secure sponsorship that will enable ?America?s High-Speed Sweetheart? to run all 17 events in the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.
?At least I had my third record to sleep on for a couple of nights?, Thompson noted. ?I can?t wait to bring back some different equipment next year and raise the bar on our land speed goals. I want to thank Palmer & Associates, Mr. D?s in Las Vegas, the Scottsdale Cigar Club and FueledByFans.com for all their support. We will be back and we will go faster next year.?

K&G CYCLES SCORES FOUR NATIONAL WINNER’S CIRCLE AWARDS– Davenport was awesome! Over 900 vendors and everyone was buying parts. We walked away with 4 National Winner’s Circle awards for 1965 Pans. Also had a great time sitting on top of our motorhome parked on the back stretch and rooting for the underdogs in the races on Friday night. Given the level of alcohol consumption that night, it’s a wonder one of us didn’t fall off the damn thing and die.

We are just about to pull the trigger on a complete facelift of the store. Will send the press release for that shortly.

SEPTEMBER 11 REPORT FROM LOWER ALABAMA– Today Richard and I had the pleasure and honor to ride with the Patriot Guard Riders on their third annual 9-11 Parade and Ceremony in Dothan, AL.
We arrived at the staging area around 8:30AM. The early morning temperature was in the 80?s, we had a 40% chance of rain so the sun was playing hide and seek behind the clouds while the flags blew in the breeze, the parade began at 9AM. Law enforcement, firefighters, military and homeland security were all represented. We rode to Veterans Park and heard speeches from many of the local dignitaries one of whom was Harri Ann Smith, Alabama State Senator.
Harri Ann had requested the honor of riding in the parade with the Patriot Guard, and she was allowed to do so, however they would not reveal her road name. At the service she gave a speech thanking the men and women of the Patriot Guard for all the time and support they have given protecting the families of fallen soldiers from abuse during their time of sorrow and all the other selfless acts they perform. Any time they are needed the Guard serves as Honor Guards at funerals for anyone who requests their services.

Ozark Mayor Bob Bunting was given a $2,000.00 check from the Patriot Guard for the WWII Veterans Honor Flight. Due to the large numbers of veterans dying each day the Honor Flight was started as a way to give those still living a chance to see the WWII memorial in Washington, D.C. A little six-year-old girl named McKenzie Ledger also gave Mr. Bunting a check. She had made cookies and coffee and sold them at a bake sale to help raise money for the flight.

After all the speeches were made and the awards were given Taps were played. Thinking of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, so that all people living in this country can have the freedoms we take for granted, I cried. Thinking of all those who lost their lives on 9-11 and the hurt and pain all their relatives still feel, I cried.
Thinking of all those who have been injured and lost their lives protecting us from terrorism, I cried. I make no apologies for my tears, they are shed as a sign of respect and honor for all who have died for this great country of ours.
God has blessed America in the past with strength and freedom, may he continue to do so in the future.

Ben Lamboeuf, 17 year Easyriders Veteran Comes to Bikernet– I made it home amazingly quickly today. Never hit traffic, took the 10 to PCH and I was home… Thank you for lunch and the great tour of your digs. You have indeed a very special place.

By the way here are a couple of shots of my 2007 Ducati Sport 1000

Ben may become the first Bikernet Advertising Director, and a member of the 5-Ball Racing Team. Hang on as the girls take a vote. We’ll bring you the results next week. He’s also working on a bike feature of his recently completed bobber.–Wilburn Roach

THE BEST TANK SEALANT, BY Caswell Inc.– I grabbed custom painter Jim Murillo at Sugar Bear’s Birthday Party. I told him I gassed up the 5-Ball factory racer and discovered a leak in the gas tank.
“Use Caswell two-part tank sealant,” Jim shouted through the fence. “It seals over anything and will seal any sized hole.”
I immediately came home and ordered some. It cost $39.00 for the product and $11.00 for UPS shipping.

A TRUE STORY FROM…”THE HOUSTON HERALD NEWSPAPER” IN HOUSTON, TEXAS, MARCH 5th, 2009– Last Thursday Night Around Midnight, A Woman From Houston, Texas Was Arrested, Jailed, And Charged With Manslaughter For Shooting A Man 6 Times In The Back As He Was Running Away With Her Purse.
The Following Monday Morning, The Woman Was Called In Front Of The Arraignment Judge, Sworn In, And Asked To Explain Her Actions.
The Woman Replied, “I Was Standing At The Corner Bus Stop For About 15 Minutes, Waiting For The Bus To Take Me Home After Work. I Am A Waitress At A Local Cafe…
I Was There Alone, So I Had My Right Hand On My Pistol, That Was In My Purse, That Was Hung Over My Left Shoulder.
All Of A Sudden I Was Being Spun Around Hard To My Left. As I Caught My Balance, I Saw A Man Running Away From Me With My Purse.
I Looked Down At My Right Hand And I Saw That My Fingers Were Wrapped Tightly Around My Pistol. The Next Thing I Remember Is Saying Out Loud, “No Way Punk! Your Not Stealing MyPay Check And Tips.”
I Raised My Right Hand, Pointed My Pistol at The Man Running Away From Me With My Purse, And Squeezed The Trigger Of My Pistol 6 Times!
When Asked By The Arraignment Judge,”Why Did You Shoot The Man 6 Times?
The Woman Replied Under Oath, “Because, When I Pulled The Trigger Of My Pistol The 7th Time, It Only Went Click.”
The Woman Was Acquitted Of All Charges, And She Was Back At Work At The Cafe The Next Day!
Now that’s Gun Control….

THAT’S IT–Hang on for this week. I’ll crank out the content, while waiting for my Duane Ballard seat and the tank sealant. Then you’ll see the first road test of the 5-Ball Factory Racer.
I have more legislative news from Bill Bish, and the MRF Meeting of the Minds is coming up. I’ll find out about the motorcycle smog test in Los Angeles this week. We have more fiction in the holding tank. This Hottie taking a bath will become the next girl of Bikernet. She deserve the title.

Plus, if the gods of creative are with me, I’ll hammer out another Cantina Soap Opera. There’s a new knockout in the house. We gotta find out what happened to her. Where did she end up? I will work on Roy’s bike feature, a pure white custom, and if we’re lucky we’ll research the out come of the Chopper Challenge with Eric Harryman, the creator, around the Power Plant bike feature.
I know there’s more, and there’s a handful of notions on the boardroom table, like a Bikernet Twilight Zone Run next year, in addition to the Bonneville effort. We are kicking around investigating the World Finals in Bonneville next month. Plus, have your read Scotty’s log reports. He lives on the road, and recently he introduced us to a women who also lives outta her saddlebags. She sent me a report. These vagabonds are an articulate bunch. Watch for Michelle’s story.
Ride Forever,
–Bandit
