Hey,
I’m running late on the Sunday Post. I ran to the Long Beach Swap meet to hook up with Duane Ballard and find my son a replacement super-extended shift linkage. I found one, then discovered he wants to replace it with a heim joint job. Hell I could make one of those.
I’m working on the 5-Ball Factory Racer this weekend and the SEMA effort. Let’s hit the news:

BIKERNET/STREETWALKER CHRISTMAS BAG-PIPE GIVEAWAY–Send Terry at StreetWalker a HOLIDAY shot of your touring bike and babe and you could win a complete set of touring exhaust valued at over $880. Send your jpg image to info@streetwalkerexhaust.com, or click on their banner and check out their exhaust systems.
THE LONG ROAD AWARD FROM THE HORSE and BIKERNET.COM– Anyone that has built a bike and ridden it several thousand miles to a Smoke Out realizes what an accomplishment that is. The HORSE, Backstreet Choppers wants to recognize that accomplishment.
Win the Superbowl and you get a ring. Win the Masters and you get a green jacket. Edge is currently working with David Barkhordari from BadAss Jewelry to design a pendant to be presented to each rider that completes the Long Road. Riders, on any type of bike, can pay a small fee and register in Cottonwood for the Long Road. Each rider that completes the ride will be presented a brass (or bronze) pendent designed to recognize that accomplishment. The pendent can be worn as a necklace or key-chain fob or as an addition to your bike in any number of ways.
Going a step further to recognize the home builder, any rider that completes the Long Road on rigid chopper or bobber that he or she has been personally involved in the build will be presented a sterling silver pendant that will be serial numbered on the back and a record of bike-riders that accomplish this feat will be maintained (by serial number) on the Smoke Out website.
The details of the Long Road are evolving as I type this and regular updates (OK, semi-regular updates) will be posted at SmokeOutRally.com.

HIT A BIKER GO TO JAIL COMMENTARY– Just started reading bikernet few months ago, been riding over 30 years, have read your work almost that long. I was wondering why it was such a good thing that Billy Shrader from Md got ten years & your running buddy billy did same thing, still running roads, nobody talks bad about him. He must be one of the good guys so he can do what he wants? Most of your stuff good. Charlie
–Donna Oneal
You?re absolutely right. In a sense it?s a double standard. But there?s one missing element. If it?s a friend of yours who did the deed, do you abandon him on the friendship level. Billy may still do time. He goes to court constantly. If he does time, then so be it. He did the crime.
On the other hand we need to send a message across the nation to motorists, that if you hit a biker you will do serious time. Something like 75 percent of all MC/car accidents are caused by motorists. Did I make sense?

GOVERNMENT SEIZES CLUB?S COLORS Dozens of Mongols Motorcycle Club members were arrested under a federal racketeering indictment in a multi-state sting operation on October 21, but even before a single case has gone to trial federal prosecutors have succeeded in getting a court order stripping the club of their trademarked logo. Mongols members can no longer wear patches or other items bearing the club?s insignia following what appears to be an unprecedented injunction barring members, their family and associates from wearing, licensing, selling or distributing the logo.
“If a Mongol is wearing a vest or jacket bearing the Mongols patch, that item is pursuant to seizure based on this order,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Welk.
?This was an=2 0ingenious move to try and strip a club of its identity under the guise of civil asset forfeiture,? said Richard M. Lester, founder of the National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM), ?but it sets an extremely dangerous precedent if allowed to stand. All the government would have to do is show that a few members were involved in criminal activity and they could take away your name and logo, and it could affect any organization from ABATE to HOG to the Elks.?

Explaining the implications and ramifications of the federal action, Sam Hochberg, Aid to Injured Motorcyclists (AIM) Attorney for Oregon, said the reasoning behind the court order was ?The government made a showing to the federal judge that they have a substantial likelihood of prevailing on the merits of the criminal case, including the RICO charge, which is required to get this sort of order. If the club loses on the criminal/RICO charges, they could be subject to the civil forfeiture laws — the same laws that allow the government to take away cars and houses from drug dealers as ?instruments of the crime?. Here, the government argued that the patch has value, and since they think they’ll ultimately be entitled to a civil forfeiture, they want to hold on to that asset, the patch. That was the basis for their legal argument, though publicly and to the press the ATF has admitted they’re doing this to break the back of the club.?
According to Lester, who also helped to found the Confederations of Clubs across the U.S. and Canada to help organized patch holder clubs to fight for their legal rights, NCOM will be working with the COCs to help overturn the patch seizure by hiring an expert on trademark and civil liberties law.
Watch for the full Bill Bish, NCOM, monthly legislative report to be posted of Bikernet in the next 24 hours.

PHIL ROSS FROM SUPERMAX JOINS GUERRILA GROUP– This may be my last email to you for some time.
As a result of the current situation, I have made the decision to leave my home and family and become directly involved with a guerrilla group on our Arizona/Mexican border which is fighting to protect our nation against illegal immigrants and terrorists.
I have been in contact with this group for a number of years, and now I will finally join them.
I know many of you won’t understand- – but I have not made this decision lightly. Nothing you can say or do will stop me from doing what I truly believe in. Our borders and country must be protected at all times.
If this works out the way I hope, it’s possible I will never come back.

WILDEST CONCEPT BIKE OF THE WEEK– Concept motorcycle design is supposed to grab your attention and the Icare by Enzyme Design certainly does that. Looking more like a creation from a futuristic sci-fi movie or computer game, it is actually based on technology and engines already available.

Power comes from a flat six, either Honda 1800, or as one rendering shows, perhaps a Porsche. With all of the bodywork on this bike, you could hide all sorts of engine accessories like blowers, turbos or what have you, plus the suspension could be pretty exotic and it, too, would be well hidden.
Of course, with this much bodywork you could hide almost any kind of powerplant, you?re not confined to the old internal combustion engine by any means though it?s interesting to see something this far out with a Honda 6. The side skirts around the wheels seem to rotate up out of the way as does the bodywork which evidently has some type of parked mode which then moves into riding mode when you turn it on.

I rather doubt we?ll see anything like this from any major manufacturer, at least not for the foreseeable future, but a technically proficient custom builder might pull it off. Interesting. A tip of the hat to Brian for the
