Hey Happy Thanksgiving,
This is an interesting year for a Thanksgiving celebration. Life in the United States is not all peaches and cream. I’ve haven?t seen this country so politically divided since the Vietnam war. But we still have a lot to be thankful for, although, in the future we may need to work harder. We may also need to reach out and help our brothers and sisters whenever possible.

Here at Bikernet we’ve been very fortunate to survive (so far) these tough times. We try to go the extra mile for our advertisers, sponsors and our readers. Hell, we try to reach out and help anyone, and we are damn thankful we can do what we do.
A brother’s bike was stolen last night. You’ll see the info below. Some folks are desperate. We have a joke around the headquarters. We say, “Security Breach,” when someone leaves a door unlocked. We may all need to ramp up security next year, until the economy is back on track and folks have jobs again. Let’s hit the news:

HOT ROD DYNA FROM ILLUSION– Keith, Rusty and T-Rod completed the custom work on my 1996 Dyna. I am located in Orange County, CA. Here are a few pictures from my house.

BIKERNET SUNDAY WORD SPONSORED BY THE DANNI ASHE GIRLS– maunder MON-duhr, intransitive verb:
1. To talk incoherently; to speak in a rambling manner.
2. To wander aimlessly or confusedly.
As in one of his earlier novels , . . . Kerr invents a credibly grim scenario for our future: most of the earth’s inhabitants are infected with a deadly virus and maunder in fetid cities.
— Charles Flowers, “Blood on the Moon (Really!)”, New York Times, February 14, 1999
It is a play with melodramatic themes, but Garc?a Lorca has put aside temptation to let it maunder, scream or otherwise let the emotions take over.
— Richard F. Shepard, “Stage: ‘Bernarda Alba’ Produced in Spanish”, New York Times, November 23, 1979
I will maunder the world over looking for work if Bandit fires me.
–Snake, Bikernet drunk and associate editor
Maunder is perhaps a dialectal variant of meander (possibly influenced by wander).

BIKERNET SEX THERAPY– A woman stopped by, unannounced, at her son’s house. She knocked on the door then immediately walked in. She was shocked to see her daughter-in-law lying on the couch, totally naked. Soft music was playing, and the aroma of perfume filled the room.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“I’m waiting for Mike to come home from work,” the daughter-in-law answered.
“But you’re naked!” the mother-in-law exclaimed.
?This is my love dress,” the daughter-in-law explained.
“Love dress? But you’re naked!”
“Mike loves me and wants me to wear this dress,” she explained. “It excites him to no end. Every time he sees me in this dress, he instantly becomes romantic and ravages me for hours on end. He can’t get enough of me.”
The mother-in-law left. When she got home, she undressed, showered, put on her best perfume, dimmed the lights, put on a romantic CD, and laid on the couch, waiting for her husband to arrive.
Finally, her husband came home. He walked in and saw her laying there so provocatively.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
“This is my love dress,” she whispered sensually.
“Needs ironing,” he said. “What’s for dinner?
He never heard the gunshot.

WE LOST GIGGIE FROM RIVERA PRIMO– Yesterday, we lost a friend and co-worker. I personally feel deep sadness and a profound sense of loss. Charles Gilliland, known simply as Giggie to people who knew him, was a big man with a bigger heart. He was very adept at shocking you with his humor, but for those who knew him well, knew that he was incredibly talented and his intelligence was equal to any schooled engineer that I have known.
He had a kindness that was infectious, never left at night without saying good-bye to everyone in the building. I know he had a great many friends, and to those people I say it was an honor to work with Giggie these last 5 years and we will all miss him a lot.

REPORT FROM BIKERNET CORRESPONDENT EMBEDDED IN THE HILLS OF PAKISTAN– While trying to escape through Pakistan, Osama Bin Laden found a bottle on the sand and picked it up.
Suddenly, a female genie rose from the bottle and with a smile said, “Master, may I grant you one wish?”
Osama responded,”You ignorant, unworthy daughter-of-a-dog! Don’t you know who I am? I don’t need any common woman giving me anything.”
The shocked genie said, “Please, I must grant you a wish or I will be returned to that bottle forever.”
Osama thought a moment, then grumbled about the impertinence of the woman and said, “Very well, I want to awaken with three American women in my bed in the morning. So just do it and be off with you.”
The genie said, “So be it!” and disappeared.
The next morning Bin Laden woke up in bed with Lorena Bobbitt, Tonya Harding, and Nancy Pelosi at his side. His penis was gone, his knees were broken, and he had no health insurance.

Department of Highways – Elizabethtown Ring Road traffic signals to include flashing yellow arrow– ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (Nov. 17, 2009) ? A new type of traffic signal designed to improve safety at intersections will be installed Wednesday, Nov. 18, on Ring Road in Elizabethtown by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
The new configuration includes a flashing yellow arrow, which indicates that motorists may proceed with caution but must yield to oncoming traffic. The signal, which is to be installed at the Home Depot entrance, is among the first of its kind in the commonwealth.
?Studies indicate that modifying a standard traffic signal with a flashing yellow light configuration may help reduce crashes at certain locations,? said Patty Dunaway, chief district engineer for the Elizabethtown highway district. ?The flashing yellow arrow has the potential to improve safety because it more clearly signals to drivers that they can turn only when there?s no oncoming traffic.?
In the coming weeks, signals at three additional Ring Road intersections will be modified to include the flashing arrow: KY 1600, Pear Orchard Road and KY 251.
The new signal display has four intervals:
– A constant red arrow means STOP. Drivers turning left must stop.
– A constant yellow arrow means the signal is getting ready to turn to red. Drivers turning left should stop if it is safe to do so.
– A flashing yellow arrow means left-turns are permitted. Drivers may turn left but must first yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians and then proceed with caution.
– A constant green arrow means left-turns are protected. Drivers may turn left. Conflicting traffic must stop.
The signal has been used in Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada and Oregon.
The flashing yellow arrow replaces the traditional green ball for motorists turning left, more clearly indicating to motorists that they must yield to oncoming traffic. If the pavement sensor in the left-turn lane detects a constant presence of vehicles unable to turn on flashing yellow, the signal will ultimately display a green arrow, indicating a ?protected? turn for the vehicles. For information about the signal visit http://transportation.ky.gov/traffic/flashingyellowlights.html.

SOFTBRAKE SPRING LOADED SHIFT ROD SPACERS ELIMINATE THE RATTLE– Softbrake has come up with a pair of SPRING LOADED SHIFT ROD SPACERS that offer touring riders a cure for that annoying shift assembly rattle and, if desired, a simple and effective way to eliminate the inner shift arm at the same time. The longer model replaces the stock rubber spacer while filling the gap left when removing the inner arm.
The spring, not visible when installed provides constant pressure to eliminate the nasty rattle common to the OEM shift mechanism. The short spacer is also spring loaded and simply replaces the rubber bushing on touring models while retaining the inner shift arm.
Once again, the spring is not visible once installed and eliminates that irritating rattle and arm vibration. Spacers are machined from solid billet aluminum and finished in durable chrome.
Available exclusively from North County Customs, the long spacer retails for just $19.00 and the short version goes for $16.00. Both include spring and spacer. For additional information call direct to 714-680-0911 or catch the entire Softbrake line up at www.softbrake.com
