HOLLISTER BIKER RALLY SURE THING–Hollister – The organizer of this year’s motorcycle rally has cleared the event’s last major hurdle and virtually guaranteed that the rally will take place in July.
Horse Power Promotions has raised the $382,000 needed to cover the event’s public safety costs. The City Council approved the rally – scheduled for July 6-8 – in December, but said the event would be canceled if Horse Power owner Seth Doulton couldn’t come up with the public safety money.
Doulton met January’s fundraising milestone of $100,000 with room to spare. He said Wednesday that he also deposited the money to meet the March 1 benchmark of $250,000 more than a week before the deadline. When asked if he anticipated any problems reaching the final goal of $382,000, Doulton said, “Oh, I’ve already got the money.”
He plans to present a giant check to the City Council on March 26.
Doulton estimated that the rally’s total operating budget will be more than $650,000; he said he’s raised more than $500,000 so far.
The rally, whose roots go back to the infamous motorcycle invasion of 1947, normally draws more than 100,000 people to the area. The council voted to cancel last year’s rally due to escalating costs, but 10,000 bikers drove into town anyway, leaving Hollister to foot the law enforcement bill.
Those visitors can be a boon for local hotels. Rebecca Sanchez, guest services manager at Gilroy’s Hilton Garden Inn, said she’s happy the rally is coming back.
“It helps the whole community, as well as us,” Sanchez said.

Staffers at a number of local hotels said reservations are bouncing back after falling last year.
The Hilton Garden Inn normally fills up several days before the event. Bookings are up again after a dip in 2006, Sanchez said, but they’re still lagging behind normal rally attendance.
According to Sanchez, 70 to 80 percent of the hotel’s 137 rooms are usually booked by early March, but only around half of the rooms have been reserved to date.

“We’ve told our dealers about our plans to bring an off-road, closed-course competition motorcycle to market within the next two years,” said Chairman and Chief Technical Officer Erik Buell. “This will allow Buell dealers the time needed to make plans to meet the needs of this new market and customer.”
“Harley-Davidson and Buell are highly committed to broadening the range of products we offer and reaching out to new groups of customers,” said Buell President and Chief Operating Officer Jon Flickinger. “We’re always looking at new market opportunities, but this one is particularly exciting.”

U.S. CHOPPER DEALER PROGRAM EXPANDING–U.S. Choppers is looking for more qualified Regional Dealers to share in our program. Simply put, our RDP is a vehicle to drive additional sales to our pro-active and competent dealer network. As a result of our business model and focus on quality manufacturing, U.S. Choppers only completes a few bikes a year for marketing purposes or private client interests. This creates a need for reliable shops to complete the bikes for our customers. If you feel your shop qualifies and would like to have the additional business and referrals from U.S. Choppers give us a call and ask about our new Regional Dealer Program.

U.S. Choppers currently has wholesale dealers in California (http://www.db2outlet.com/) , and Iowa (http://www.mcadvantages.com/) for distribution.
HERE’S A GUILTY CONNECTION TO U.S.CHOPPERS– “A Guilty Delivery!” That’s what can be said about the newest delivery for Guilty Customs of three new street platform frames from renowned frame builder Rick Krost at US Choppers. Late last year, these two companies put the finishing touches on a new venture where Guilty Customs would be the Regional Distributor for US Choppers unique street platform. Now with the delivery of this new batch of frames, those in the market for a new and different ride during Bike Week can profit quite significantly. Guilty will be selling these frames only during Bike Week (March 3-10) at dealer cost, $2350.00 verses retail of $2950.00. The street platform, aptly called Dais’d by Guilty, is also available at various stages of completion and is available by contacting Guilty directly.
“U.S. Choppers and Rick are recognized and respected throughout the industry for their leading edge design, durability and quality coupled with style and beauty. What U.S. Chopper and Guilty are doing is establishing the Guilty Street Platform as an innovative player in the custom world that provides riders an unmatched riding experience and a truly unique piece of machinery”, say’s Hanlon, president and owner of Guilty Customs.
What Guilty found in U.S. Chopper was an organization that shared their passion in bringing to the riding community a dependable, unique motorcycle that sparks a bit of nostalgia. Guilty Customs skill and reputation will provide the consumer a quality crafted motorcycle at a reasonable price. Match this with the people to support the consumer after the sale, and this venture was an easy choice for both Krost and Hanlon.

Cj Hanlon, owner and president of Guilty Customs, believes that “the street platform’s unique styling, low center of gravity, simple lines, superior handling characteristics teamed with rider comfort, this bike will not only interest the street bike fan, but will be uniquely positioned to satisfy women riders. Of course the street platform can be modified to fit the needs and wants of the individual rider, but the basic model will be just as you see it, simple” say’s Hanlon. The base price for the motorcycle will start in the mid to upper 20’s.
Guilty Customs, LLC, www.guiltycustoms.com is quickly establishing itself in the custom chopper industry by bringing to the discerning consumer, innovative and “rider friendly” custom motorcycles at a price point that is affordable.
In Hanlon’s words, “at Guilty Customs, we are guilty!… of wanting to give the motorcycle enthusiast the bike and the experience they deserve!” Dealer Inquiries for carrying the Guilty line should be directed to Cj info@guiltycustoms.com.

USO TOUR UPDATES– Just wanted to give you an update on the progress of our USO handshake tour. So far we have received positive responses from several builders. Unfortunately we have also received no responses from several of the invited builders. I’d really like to put together a long list of bike builders that are interested in meeting and supporting our troops overseas.
I personally could care less what anyone’s politics are with regards to the support or non support of the war, my focus is on showing our troops we care about them and support the work they’re doing every day.
Builders that have given us a thumbs up response:
Harold Pontarelli- HD Performance
Brian Klock- Klock Werks
Randy Simpson- Milwaukee Iron
Keith R. Ball- Bikernet.com/5 Ball Racing
Joe Cree- California Customs

ANDREAS EUROPEAN PHOTOGRAPHY COMES TO BIKERNET– So I will also feed some sections with nice girls sometimes. Isn’t internet great?! And again I feel that bikers worldwide talk same language, huh? I’ll attach a cover of a magazine edited by me and produced by my team once a year as special issue for Germany’s biggest selling biker mag, the Bikers News (www.bikersnews.de).
See, we don’t have a “pornography-act” and still may show nudity free on our newsstands. We are used to that. And I’m very familiar with working on that topic. It’s hard work over here… Ab-so-lu-tely!

IT’S TIME FOR A RIDE–Bandit spent all afternoon yesterday trying to fix some of our outdoor lights. They’re like streetlights and he had to get up on a 20 ft ladder and grapple with tools and wiring. You should have seen the sonuvabitch. We had bets going. Renegade won. He didn’t fix it. It still doesn’t work.

He’s up there again today trying to fix another one. He’ll either fall or get electrocuted and we still won’t have a light above the Cantina basketball court. We’ll see.

In the meantime, we’re pumping the girls into the Cantina and watch for more changes next week. I know he’s praying for his Assalt Weapan frame to roll into the shop next week. We?ll see.
