Hey,
This Sunday is a tribute to motorcycles, the last American freedom, and according to Dave Rash, the boss of D&D, “Motorcycles are mechanical valiums.” He’s right, go for a ride and stress is immediately removed and the creative spirit re-energized.

I like to throw sex into the mix. So we’re having some fun with this Sunday Post, with a gang of hot babes, bad jokes and light-hearted news. The sun’s out. Let’s ride:

SIN WU’S 10 COMMANDMENTS–
Commandment 1
Marriages are made in heaven.
But then again, so is thunder and lightning.
Commandment 2
If you want your wife to listen and pay strict attention to every word you say, talk in your sleep.
Commandment 3
Marriage is grand — and divorce is at least a 100 grand!
Commandment 4
Married life is very frustrating.
In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens.
In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens.
In the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen.
Commandment 5
When a man opens the door of his car for his wife, you can be sure of one thing: Either the car is new or the wife is.
Commandment 6
Marriage is when a man and woman become as one; The trouble starts when they try to decide which one.
Commandment 7
Before marriage, a man will lie awake all night thinking about something you said.
After marriage, he will fall asleep before you finish.
Commandment 8
Every man wants a wife who is beautiful, understanding, economical, and a good cook.
But the law allows only one wife.
Commandment 9
Marriage and love are purely a matter of chemistry.
That is why one treats the other like toxic waste.
Commandment 10
A man is incomplete until he is married. After that, he is finished.

FIRST ANNUAL FT. MYERS SWAMP FEST– First annual Swamp Fest held at the Shell Factory in N Ft Myers last weekend. The event was built around the Bears For Bears program, in which SW Chapter ABATE members collect new teddy bears and donate them to local law enforcement, who then place them in the trunks of their cruisers, and they give them out to children in trauma situations, like domestic violence, fires, u-name-it. Very worthwhile deal.

I had the fun job of running the bike show. I got Roxy and Stephanie to sell 50/50 and be my Hot Trophy Girlz. I also brought the Royal Flush out and rode it around like an idiot, to the delight of the crowd. It’s all about the love and laughter, man, and we sure had a lot of both.

Suzuki Impacted by GM’s Bankruptcy– Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corp. says it may not be able to recover $305 million in outstanding debt from General Motors Corp. and its affiliates following the U.S. automaker’s bankruptcy filing on June 1.
“We are going to collect and analyze the information immediately on this matter and consider future step to be taken,” Osamu Suzuki, chairman and CEO of Suzuki Motor Corp., said in a prepared statement.
Suzuki said he believes the matter will have only a limited effect on Suzuki Motor’s business. “As a business partner, we expect General Motors Corporation to be reorganized smoothly under a Chapter 11 reorganization plan,” he said.
GM once owned more than 20 percent of Suzuki Motor. In 2006, the U.S. auto giant sold a 17 percent holding to raise cash for restructuring, leaving it with just three percent. That three percent of Suzuki Motor’s common stock was sold by GM in late 2008.
However, Suzuki Motor still holds a 49.99 percent share of CAMI Automotive Inc., a subsidiary company of General Motors of Canada Ltd. (GM’s subsidiary company). Also, the two manufacturers currently work together on developing hybrid and fuel-cell technologies, and have agreed to collaborate on entries in new emerging markets.

Denis Manning, Bonneville Legend Visits Wheels Through Time–This past Wednesday, June 3rd, I had the great pleasure of entertaining one of the great motorcycle land speed legends of all time — Denis Manning.
About a week ago, I received a phone call from Dennis, who let me know that he be in the area. Denis and I have known each other for about thirty years, and due to our busy schedules, its a rare occasion that we get a chance to get together and catch up on old times. Regarded as one of the world’s premier designers and fabricators of land speed racing motorcycles, over the years Denis has been a part of more motorcycle land speed racing record breaking teams than anyone in history and continues to leave his mark on the sport.
Denis has been into motorcycles since he was a kid. At the age of thirteen, his interest in land speed racing was sparked after attending the Bonneville Land Speed Record Trials. While there, Manning was fortunate enough to see Mickey Thompson, and his four-engine streamliner car, “Challenger”, make history with a new land speed record. It was here that Manning developed his love for “going fast”, and decided to devote his life to land speed racing.

By the time he was in his early 20s, Manning had developed his first streamliner to compete at the Bonneville Salt flats. Powered by a stock Sportster engine running on gasoline, Denis himself piloted the machine to a speed of over 187 miles per hour, immediately gaining the attention of some of the biggest names in the game. Soon after his initial success at the Salt Flats, the 24-year old Manning was contacted by Harley-Davidson racing chief, Dick O’Brien, for a new Bonneville project. Teaming up with O’Brien, as well as H-D engine tuner Warner Riley and George Smith of what would later become S&S Cycle, Manning would provide his design expertise and knowledge in an attempt to build a streamliner that would surpass the Don Vesco land speed record of 251.92 mph. Piloted by H-D factory rider and AMA road race champion, Cal Rayborn, the team’s nitro-methane burning 89 cubic inch sportster engine powered streamliner would record a two-way average speed of 265 miles per hour, breaking the old record and claiming its place as the fastest motorcycle in the world.
In 1976, Denis started BUB Enterprises and would begin to provide the motorcycle industry with high-performance exhaust systems. Initially a manufacturer of solely Triumph exhaust systems, Manning had the experience with countless European brands that would allow him to manufacture what was regarded as the “best pipe out there.” He would soon expand his business to include systems for Harley-Davidson, and in 2002, Manning teamed up with Gerald Rhinehart of Nascar fame to manufacturer new exhaust for H-D touring bikes that would change the industry. Since, the Rinehart True Duals would become the best selling aftermarket pipes of all time.
In the years following his contribution Harley-Davidson’s land speed record breaking machine in 1970, Manning would combine his experience and expertise in countless land speed record attempts, claiming many along the way. Building for Harley-Davidson, Triumph, and Norton to name a few, since his introduction to the sport, Manning has owned six of the eleven “fastest motorcycles in history”.

His 40-plus year experience and knowledge have culminated over the last several years into his most recent land speed racing attempts with the specially constructed BUB “Seven” Streamliner. Powered by Manning’s own design engine — a 3-liter, V-4 turbocharged 16-valve dual overhead cam engine, the “Seven” Streamliner produces over 500 horsepower to the rear wheel and over 400 lb/ft of torque. Constructed out of mostly carbon-fiber, the machine measures 21 feet in length, is only 22 inches wide, and weighs a mere 1600 pounds.
In 2006, Denis and rest of the BUB team teamed up with seven time AMA Flat-track Grand National Champion, Chris Carr, and brought “Seven” to the Bonneville Salt Flats to make history. With Carr behind the controls, “Seven” recorded a new world land speed record of 350.8 mph, conquering a two-day old record which previously had stood for over 16 years.

With the endless goal of always going faster, Manning has his eyes on breaking the current land speed record with another attempt by “Seven” and Chris Carr. With new modifications to the engine, the team has been testing the machine in simulated environments in hopes of achieving success.

BAYOU BLONDE COMES TO BIKERNET– A young blonde woman was driving through Southern Louisiana while on Vacation. She wanted to take home a pair of genuine alligator shoes in the worst way, but was very reluctant to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking.
After becoming very frustrated with the attitude of one of the shopkeepers. the young blonde declared, “Well then, maybe I’ll just go out and catch my own alligator and get a pair of shoes for free!”
The shopkeeper said with a sly smile, “Well little lady, why don’t you go on and give it a try?” The blonde headed off to the swamp, determined to catch an alligator.
Later in the day, as the shopkeeper is driving home, he spots the same young woman standing waist deep in the murky water, shotgun in hand.. As he brings his car to a stop, he sees a huge 9-foot gator swimming rapidly toward her. With lightning reflexes, the Blonde takes aim, shoots the creature and hauls it up onto the slippery bank. Nearby were seven more dead gators, all lying belly up.
The shopkeeper stood on the bank, watching in silent amazement. The blonde struggles mightily and manages to flip the gator onto its back.
Rolling her eyes heavenward, she screams in frustration, “%@*#! THIS ONE’S BAREFOOT, TOO!”

2009 BLACK HILLS UTV RALLY CANCELED–Due to our scheduled move and the inability for the Black Hills UTV Rally to gain reasonable access from Piedmont, South Dakota to the forest service trails this year, the 2009 Black Hills UTV Rally will be postponed for 2009. Independent Cycle Inc./ Legend Air Suspension and Top 50 Rally Park plan to hold the 2010 event at our new location with the assistance of our new business community.
As event partners, the Off-Road Riders Association will host a poker run and volunteers will offer guided rides September 5th-7th Labor Day Weekend 2009 from the Top 50 Rally Park.
