BILL MAY BAN BIKER BARS– Revving up for a fight, motorcycle clubs in Virginia say they are being unfairly targeted by the state?s ABC Board for what they wear. Motorcyclists who recently rallied at a Richmond Public Safety meeting say they are trying to appeal to Richmond City Council members to repeal a new State law.
In 2008, the General Assembly passed HB 1117 Alcohol Beverage Control; a bill saying that bars and restaurants could be stripped of their liquor license by allowing groups into their establishments who wear certain gang affiliations or colors. Although aimed at criminal street gangs, motorcyclists say they are victims of this new law and that their First Amendment rights are being violated.
The above came from the Bill Bish, NCOM Coast to Coast Legislative Report for June. Read the whole tamale next week. Important shit going on.–Wilburn Roach

Message for KMA/KBA– This is the bill we are trying to make into law. Currently it is on the Governor of Missouri?s desk awaiting his signature if he signs it that would be fantastic but if he ignores it, it will still become law. If he vetoes it we are done till next year.
SCS/SB 202 – This act provides that operating a motorcycle, in and of itself, shall not be considered evidence of comparative negligence. The act also provides that when investigating an accident or settling an automobile insurance policy claim, no insurer, agent, producer, or claims adjuster of an insurer shall assign a percentage of fault to a party based upon the sole fact that the party was operating a motorcycle in an otherwise legal manner. This provision is similar to SB 505 (2007).
This act also exempts persons 21 years of age or older from wearing protective headgear except when operating or riding motorcycles or motortricycles upon interstate highways. The motorcycle helmet exemption expires on August 28, 2014 (Section 302.020).
The opposition to SB 202 has started, I received word today that the opposition is asking for people to contact the Governor and ask for him to veto SB202.
If you want our comparative fault and helmet mod bill to become law NOW is the time to take action.
Here is what I would like for you to do: Contact the Governor and Lieutenant Governor using the links below. You, your friends and neighbors should to go to www.governor.mo.gov/constituents/ Fill out the form the subject would be legislation. Then simply ask for SB202 to become law. That is all there is to it, I did it and it took about 2 minutes. As always thanks for your support,

Central Committee Chairman: Freedom of Road Riders, Inc.

BIKERNET INVESTIGATOR RESEARCHES LOWER ALABAMA– LA weather report for the week of 06/15/09 HOT! HOT! HOT! and humid too! We have been having a record breaking week of high temps here in LA. Five days of 100+ degree weather with heat indexes of over 105 to 112 degrees. It has almost been too hot to breath outside, let alone ride, but ride we did to one of our favorite spots in SW Georgia. It is called Fairchild Park.
It is a finger of Lake Seminole and it is peaceful and quiet most of the time. There is a boat ramp so some days it can and does get crowded, yesterday we had it to ourselves. Beautiful day to ride (except for the heat) but we still managed to ride and get home before it got too intense.

Things to contemplate at any age:
1. Acquaintances may come and go but true friends will be with you a lifetime. They know all about you and still like you even on the days you don?t like yourself. IMPORTANT NOTE: you may not have a lot of true friends in your life…if you only have one be grateful.
2. On a great day to ride, if you have chores to do around the house just take off your glasses, if you don?t see the dirt you can pretend it isn?t there and go riding, there will be rainy days when you can?t ride and you can clean then.
3. ?Love makes the world go ?round? is not just an old song. It is true. Show and tell the people you love that you love them, it makes them feel good and it will do wonders for you too.
4. When you are able to help others less fortunate, do so, you never know when you will be in their shoes. It is sort of like ?what goes around comes around?. On the wheel of life it is all relative.
5. Enjoy life. It is way too short to do otherwise.
6. See the beauty in nature. From the smallest insect to the largest trees it may amaze you to watch how things live and grow.
7. Children have no prejudices or hate until adults teach them how.
Ride safe.

PANCHO PELOTA LIVES–My dad was my hero, too. My step dad actually. He was a pisser. Every time they told him he was too old to work, he’d show up with a new birth certificate and go back to work. He fought in WW1 in the army. Was boxing champ of his battalion or regiment, I can’t remember which. Still taking knives away from teenage punks when he was in his seventies. He died when I was 15.
Mom’s last sight of my biological father was his back as he rode away on his motorcycle. When she told me I was just like my father, it wasn’t meant as a compliment. She left us in 2002, never remarried.
I suspect you like love stories, I’ve always thought that was one. Friend of mine once told me I was an incurable romantic.
Well, have to finish up my chores, kids are coming in from Tallahassee for Father’s Day. Step kids actually, but I’ve never been able to tell the difference. Hope you have a good Father’s Day.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report this week entitled, “Firearms Trafficking: U.S. Efforts to Combat Arms Trafficking to Mexico Face Planning and Coordination Challenges.”
Among other things, the report asserts that Mexican officials consider illicit firearms the number one crime problem affecting their country’s security; that about 87 percent of firearms seized in Mexico and traced by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) in the last five years originated in the United States; and that these firearms are increasingly more powerful and lethal, including “high-caliber and high-powered” AK-47 and AR-15 type semi-automatic rifles. The report further contends that the country’s law enforcement agencies are insufficiently organized, and that Mexico has a history of corruption at the federal, state and local levels.

?Bulldog Bash says it?s ?deeply disappointed? by police unfounded claims?– The organisers of the Bulldog Bash, responding to police statements to the press, say they are ?deeply disappointed? by unfounded allegations and claims made by Warwickshire?s assistant chief constable Bill Holland, who failed to get the show cancelled last year and has also had a bid for a review of the event licence this year rejected by Stratford council.
A spokesman for the bash continued: ?There has been no material change in the circumstances from the licence hearing, and the examples given are simply rehashed from then – we fail to understand why the police continue to raise these matters, when the issues were fully discussed and resolved with a three day hearing at the conclusion of which a 10 year licence was granted.
Police forces local to other similar shows have publicly stated their intention to work with those organisers to avoid a repeat of last year?s problems ? we are mystified as to why this does not apply to the Bulldog Bash.
The Bash is a well run, well regulated and tightly controlled commercial event – involving many people from different backgrounds and walks of life, unconnected to the organizers. They work co-operatively with us to stage a show with an excellent safety record and low crime rate, going back many years. Any profits made are re-invested in making the event bigger and better. This can be seen at Bulldog 23 with rock legends Motorhead, headlining on Saturday, and personalities from the motorcycling world such as Russell Mitchell of Exile Cycles attending; improved drastrip entertainment including jet cars and rocket bikes and an expanded custom show including special prizes for women custom builders.?
The spokesman continued ?Last years huge and expensive external stop and search operation resulted in 525 people being stopped, yet only three people were convicted of any offences. We believe at least one of those had no connection with and was not attending the show. The suggestion that there is much more crime on site than the low figures suggest is completely untrue and unsupported by any evidence.
The Bulldog Bash has been for many years widely recognised as a very safe festival. In 22 years, there has never been a serious incident at the site on the Long Marston airfield ? events off site are beyond the control of the organisers as accepted by Stratford council last year when they granted us a ten year licence.?
The spokesman gave the example of violence miles from a football stadium after a game in which a fan is injured or killed- the stadium isn?t shut down or future matches banned.
There is absolutely no evidence of any threat of ?serious harm? to the public – in the past the police and the local council have actually praised the safety and organisation of the event. This is plainly scaremongering. Also, the suggestion that showgoers are ?intimidated? is equally ridiculous?.otherwise why would people keep coming back year after year to the Bulldog Bash??
The Police are clearly desperately clutching at straws in an unjustified effort to try to stop the show.
The spokesman added: ?We thank the biking community and the people in and around Stratford for their continued support and are confident the show will go ahead as planned. Yet again we call on the police to work with us and other agencies – as they have in the past- to make sure Bulldog 23 is safe and successful.
Tickets are available from The Bulldog Bash, PO Box 5026, East Reading, RG6 1QZ ? Please send a cheque or postal order for ?50 per person, plus a first class postage paid SEA, to arrive no later than 30th of June. After this date the gate price of ?55 applies.

FATHER’S DAY STORY FROM UNCLE MONKEY–A couple of years ago my Uncle stopped in. He eyed up my Fatboy parked in the front yard. Slowly and methodically he walked around it with a look of disgust. “Harley Davidson eh?” I waited for the usually death machine, nuisance to the civilized world tirade that most his age spew out when they see it.
I was surprised when he sombrely straddled the bike and righted it on his feeble legs. His hands trembled as he gripped the thick chrome and rubber grips. A flood of memories washed over him. He was lost in a moment from long ago. He confessed that before my dad had been born he had had a Flathead Harley. He told of riding it into town to pick up supplies for the family, scooting over to the next town to sit in with the band and play for the pretty girls with their long flowing tresses and dresses. Riding from the family farm in southern Saskatchewan to Toronto, Ontario in the late 1930’s. It is a daunting trip today but in the 1930’s it was nothing more then a gravel road cut through the hardened Canadian Shield.
He eased the bike back to its kickstand and rested his feet on the floorboards. He went on to tell me when he had gotten home from Toronto he traded the Flathead for an Indian Scout. It served him well on the farm bounding across the open prairie chasing cattle. More then once he hung it up on a rock pile. The Scout would take him out to the west coast to see the new city that was growing called Vancouver.
The bikes would be long gone before my father would be born; decades would pass before he would find himself straddling an iron horse again decades since he had even spoke of owning a motorcycle. I offered to take him for a spin around the block. He smiled but declined. I could tell that the ride would be more then he could handle. He told me to take care of it, to cherish it, and enjoy it while I can. Youth would be fleeting but the memories will linger.

SAVE CIGARETTES TECH TIP– Jane and Doris are outside their nursing home, having a drink and a smoke, when it starts to rain. Jane pulls out a condom, cuts off the end, puts it over her cigarette, and continues smoking.
Doris : What in the hell is that?
Jane: A condom. This way my cigarette doesn’t get wet.
Doris: Where did you get it?
Jane: You can get them at any pharmacy.
The next day, Doris hobbles herself into the local pharmacy and announces to the pharmacist that she wants a box of condoms.
The pharmacist, obviously embarrassed, looks at her kind of strangely (she is after all, over 80 years of age), but very delicately asks what brand of condom she prefers.
‘Doesn’t matter Sonny, as long as it fits on a Camel.’
The pharmacist fainted.
