Hey,
It rained on Mooneyes, but Irish Rich was on assignment from the HORSE, so we may see some shots next week. Then, in flowed a flurry of interesting images from Mooneyes in Japan from the Sheriff. Rain threatened for Sunday, but blew away, so the David Mann Chopper Fest is alive in Ventura. The River Rat will cover the action for Bikernet and the Canyon Carver is photographing the wet roads for a French magazine.

We’re clamoring to finish the Post, so we can hit the headquarters chores list, then maybe relax and watch Sunday night football. As we roll through e-mails next week’s Bikernet content list starts to grow. Let’s hit the news, then I’ll fill you in on all the action for next week.

HERE’S THE LATEST FROM THE MIC, OOPS 2008– 10.8 million registered motorcycles in use.
Harley is 33% of that total and 50% of the “cruiser” market and 39% of the Touring mkt.
R.L. Polk has the best numbers and might be better able to give you what you need.
Recent article in Powersports quoted HD that they expected to lose about 30 of the 700 dealers globally. I believe HD has 600 US and 60 Canadian. That has remained steady for years.
What about the Japanese and Euro brands being a part of the SEMA proposal?

All makes and models will be invited to be members and to be involved. I’m looking for more numbers for our SEMA effort. I need to know how many motorcycle dealers there are in the U.S. all makes. I need to know how many manufacturers there are and how many aftermarket shops.–Bandit

THE SUNDAY RELAXING TERM FROM THE BIKERNET ENGLISH CLASS SPONSORED BY DANNI ASHE– quiescent kwy-ES-uhnt; kwee-, adjective:
Being in a state of repose; at rest; still; inactive.
The solution, Dr. Wilmut discovered, was to, in effect, put the DNA from the adult cell to sleep, making it quiescent by depriving the adult cell of nutrients.
— Gina Kolata, “Scientist Reports First Cloning Ever of Adult Mammal”, New York Times, February 23, 1997
A vicious but localized Sino-Japanese war raged around the Shanghai region through much of 1932. The conflict then settled into a quiescent phase for several years.
— David M. Kennedy, “The Horror”, The Atlantic, April 1998
Snake, Bikernet life long cub report was drunk again last night. Today he’s in a quiescent state, and of little help to the hardworking staff working tirelessly on the Sunday Post:
–Nyla Olsen, Bikernet galley chef, who is making breakfast
Quiescent derives from the present participle of Latin quiescere, to rest, from quies, rest.

BIKERNET OFFICIAL EDITORIAL CORRECTION– I just read Wilburn Roach’s great review of “Solo Ride to the Top of the World” movie and I would to make one correction. At the top of the review it says Guarav rode a 500cc Enfield. I assumed the same thing but I spoke with him live in person at a showing of the movie in Asheville NC and Guarav says his bike is a 350cc Enfield, not a 500cc.
I rode a 350cc Enfield for over 2 months all over India in ’99, and the experience only adds to my amazement of what he accomplished. That machine is underpowered for the weight. I, too, found it starving for oxygen at high altitudes and let me tell you, that is no light bike to push uphill (my lungs were starving, too), even before adding gear.
Anyway, perhaps you’d consider revising the review to show the correct size Enfield.
Robert Collins
We immediately called an emergency correction Bikernet Board meeting, attempted to fire the staff for the mistake, but their union officials stepped in. Besides, we can’t fire anyone in this economy. It’s against the code of the west. So we hired three more Editorial Fact Checking Staff members. They are all very cute, big-titted girls, who can’t speak a word of English. –Wilburn Roach, demoted staff member

BIG DOG OPENING NEW DEALER IN THE MOTOR CITY– Here is the newest dealer that we set-up in the Motor City of Detroit:

We actually set him up in October. Either he is brave, or we just obviously have a product that would stimulate more traffic for his dealership. It has been working great because we needed a point to replace our last dealership that closed, and Indian of Detroit was able to plug into a Big Dog Motorcycle network of 300+ owners in that area that need service, apparel, and sales support to trade into a newer Big Dog.
The initial shipment was six bikes, and he has purchased three more bikes to date. Those three extra bikes were all pre-sold to Detroit customers.

ONE MORE RIDE BEFORE THE WINTER SETS IN– I was hoping for one more ride but put in the barn before it was to late. With the sub 20 temps tonight there will be a small ice field in front of the barn doors.

Hope to ride in the Jan. thaw, a warm spell that usually happens here. Have sympathy with getting old [soon 64] walk with a cane, and I was a bad ass. Have the vertigo too, long term effects of a crushed vertebrae. Getting old ain’t for sissies.
We never had any fear before so y start now, hang in Brother. I am gonna try and ride at least one day each month [as I did when a little younger] here in the eastern hills of Ohio.
That skinny LePera seat with the gel is the most comfortable seat I have ever sat on. I blacked out the engine with $20 VHT paint for exhaust wraps and for a retired regular guy I think it looks great.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON DECLARES MARCH AS NATIONAL GARAGE PARTY MONTH– Dealerships across the Country to Host Women-Only Garage Parties in March 2010.
MILWAUKEE (December 7, 2009) – Harley-Davidson has announced plans for National Garage Party Month, when dealerships across the country will host Garage Party events during March 2010. Harley-Davidson Garage Party events provide a fun, social environment for women to learn about the sport of motorcycling, as well as meet other women who are interested in riding. Dealers host the events year-round, but the Motor Company has declared March as a special focus to bring national awareness to the events, which have encouraged thousands of women to learn to ride in the last few years.
Harley-Davidson started hosting Garage Party events at dealerships throughout the country in 2005 to encourage women to embrace the sport of motorcycling. The growth of female riders has continued to rise over the last two decades. In 1990, women represented just three percent of riders, but according to recent data from the Motorcycle Industry Council, women riders now represent 12 percent of new motorcycle purchasers and 23 percent of all motorcyclists.
“Garage Party events provide women with a no-pressure chance to learn, socialize and ask questions about Harley-Davidson motorcycles,” said Leslie Prevish, women’s outreach manager for Harley-Davidson Motor Company. “Garage Party events are not only educational, but also an empowering experience for women, which is why they have been so successful. We know millions of women are interested in motorcycling, but don’t know where to start, and we look forward to encouraging thousands of new women to get a taste of riding and learn how it can change their lives, like it has for more than a million women in the last few decades.”
Garage Party events are fun and interactive, covering topics such as a review of the basic motorcycle controls, how to customize a motorcycle’s style and ergonomics and how to gear up for a ride. Garage Party event attendees are organized into small groups, getting their first taste of the camaraderie that goes along with riding. Groups will visit four informational seminars, including:
• Motorcycle Orientation to learn the basic differences between Harley-Davidson motorcycle families.
• MotorClothes® Merchandise to discover the important attributes needed in motorcycle gear.
• Customization to learn how to customize a motorcycle to reflect a rider’s personal style and ergonomic needs, using Fit Shop that many dealers have.
• Self-Service to find out how just about anyone can handle the weight of a motorcycle, including an interactive experience on picking up a motorcycle – for those who are interested in trying it out.
Between seminars, women get the chance to interact with each other, as well as hear from women who are already living their motorcycle dreams.
The women-only Harley-Davidson Garage Party events are free for any woman who is looking to take the next step to get behind the handlebars. For more information about Garage Party events or to find an event in your area, visit www.harley-davidson.com/garageparty

LAPD officer killed in motorcycle crash was drunk–Los Angeles police say an off-duty officer who died in a motorcycle crash last week was drunk and had spent the previous hours drinking and singing karaoke at a Police Academy bar. Cmdr. David Doan on Wednesday said Officer Kenneth Aragon’s blood-alcohol level was well over the legal limit after the Dec. 3 crash about 3 miles from the academy.
Doan says the 47-year-old father of five drank with other officers and guests during an unofficial but regular gathering for “payday Wednesday.”
Doan says investigators are trying to determine whether he went to another bar in the 90 minutes after he left the academy.
Meanwhile, Doan says the department has ordered academy bar employees to be retrained on alcohol laws. Undercover officers will be making sure they comply.

BIKERNET UNIVERSITY HISTORIC DEPARMENT BREAKS DA, DA VINCI CODE– Written across the wall of the cave were the following symbols: It was considered a unique find and the writings were said to be at least three thousand years old!
The piece of stone was removed, brought to the Bikernet museum, and archaeologists from around the world came to study the ancient symbols. They held a huge meeting after months of conferences to discuss the meaning of the markings.
The President of the society pointed to first drawing and said: “This is a woman. We can see these people held women in high esteem. You can also tell they were intelligent, as the next symbol is a donkey, So they were smart enough to have animals help them till the soil. The next drawing is a shovel, which means they had tools to help them.”
Even further proof of their high intelligence is the fish which means that if a famine hit the earth and food didn’t grow, they seek food from the sea. The last symbol appears to be the Star of David which means they were evidently Hebrews.
The audience applauded enthusiastically.
Then a little old Jewish man stood up in the back of the room and said, “Idiots, Hebrew is read from right to left…… It says: ‘Holy Mackerel, Dig The Ass On That Chick.

BIKERNET STOCK PICK OF Sunday, ‘CAUSE THE MARKET AIN’T OPEN– Medical Marijuana Inc (PINKSHEETS: MJNA) completed its initial two day weekend Educational Seminar held Saturday and Sunday November 7 and 8 in Ukiah, CA.
Attendees arrived from Oregon, Arizona, and California, including San Francisco and Mendocino County, which is ground zero in the Medical Marijuana debate.
Noted speakers included attorney and hemp expert Don Wirtshafter, Editor of Mendocino Country Journal, Richard Johnson, Airoponics cultivation expert Wayne Zallen, trademark and patent consultant John Blue, MJNA – CEO Bruce Perlowin, and other speakers in various categories in the medical marijuana industry.
The Educational Seminar was well received and recorded on video for future webinar ventures. “This signals the beginning of a new revenue stream as MJNA continues the weekend seminar series in Ukiah — the county seat of Mendocino County — until the end of the year — with an even broader forum on the Medical Marijuana industry, which goes above and beyond the traditional curriculum offered in this arena,” said Bruce Perlowin, the CEO of Medical Marijuana, Inc.
Medical Marijuana Inc.’s educational seminar series continues this weekend at The Discovery Inn located at 1340 State St in Ukiah, CA, beginning at 10 am on Saturday and Sunday, November 14 and 15 and will continue every weekend until year’s end excluding the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday weeks. Included in this schedule is free Informational Seminars every Tuesday and Thursday night at 7 pm — also at The Discovery Inn.
Attendees will be lectured by scheduled speakers including noted Oakland NORML attorney James Silva, who was in attendance at the oral argument and will elaborate on the pending “Kelly” decision. “Kelly,” in layman’s terms, is a potential ordinance changing the California “plant limitation” a landmark case to be decided in the near future.
Mendocino Country Journal editor Richard Johnson will follow Mr. Silva and engage in a dialogue of topics which will also include the latest and most pertinent California city, county and state ordinances and court cases. MJNA takes pride in staying on the leading edge of consulting, which begins with city council and court decisions, particularly in “ground zero,” Mendocino County.
Cultivation modules will include airoponics, an alternative to outdoor grows, and a potentially integral aspect of Medical Marijuana cultivation as it is accomplished in a closed environment. Traditional hydroponics and outdoor grow modules are also featured at these events.
Business protocol modules will include Marketing, Accounting and Tax Compliance, a detailed view of MJNA’s Tax Remittance Card and Closed Loop Inventory Management Control System, Trademarks and Patents and Barter and their relevance to Medical Marijuana, Extended Caregiver Models for Prop 215 compliance, and Peripheral Industries from Cannabis Kitchens to Cannabis Magazines. Online enrollment can be accomplished at www.medicalmarijuanainc.com
