GUN TAX BILL INVESTIGATED BY BIKERNET READER– Privately Owned Gun Tax? Q: Would Senate bill 2099 put a yearly $50 tax on each privately owned firearm? A: There is no such bill. A chain e-mail containing bogus claims refers to a bill that died more than eight years ago. FULL QUESTION Is this one legit? Subject: IRS GUN CONTROL BILL Click to expand/collapse the full text This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee can pass this without the Senate voting on it at all. The full text of the proposed amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage, http://www.senate.gov/ You can find the bill by doing a search by the bill Number, SB-2099. You know who to call; I strongly suggest you do. FULL ANSWER S. 2099 It?s true that the bill would have required owners of handguns to register them with the federal government within one year, under the 1934 National Firearms Act The bill was referred to the Senate Finance Committee, and it eventually attracted two cosponsors. But when the 106th Congress adjourned at the end of 2000, the bill died without getting so much as a subcommittee hearing, let alone a vote. Reed has not reintroduced the bill since then. -Brooks Jackson Sources U.S. Senate. “S. 2099, Handgun Safety and Registration Act of 2000 United States Code. “Title 26, National Firearms Act U.S. Congressional Record. 24 Feb. 2000 –from Bikernet Investigator Scooter Grubb CHOP N GRIND PERFORMANCE CYCLES TEAR INTO BUELL PROJECT, RAID BIKERNET HEADQUARTERS– Hey.. I heard thru the grapevine that Bandit is going away for awhile. Let’s get a hold of Wiburn Roach and get the parts we need for the Night Fighter from the Bikernet Headquarters, while he’s gone. BIKERNET GOVERNMENT SPENDING DEPARTMENT FINDINGS– Absolutely the funniest joke ever….. ON US !!! Read this and let it sink in. Quietly we go like sheep to slaughter. Does anybody out there have any memory of the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY ….. during the Carter Administration? Bottom line … we’ve spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency … the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember. Ready??????? It was very simple and at the time everybody thought it very appropriate… The ‘Department of Energy’ was created on 8-04-1977 TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL. Hey, pretty efficient, huh????? AND NOW IT’S 2009, 32 YEARS LATER … AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS NECESSARY DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR ! IT HAS 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES AND LOOK AT THE JOB IT HAS DONE! THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY “WHAT WAS I THINKING?” Ah, yes, good old bureaucracy… And NOW – we are going to turn the banking system, Health Care and the auto Industry over to that same government? Unbelievable, huh? May God Help Us !!! –from Jim Waggaman Snidal ROYAL ENFIELD Repair Guide (Spiral Bound)– Hi I came across your site while looking for Royal Enfield, Do you know if the new ones are available in Australia? and how much is a three fifty worth?, I can get my hands on a 1935 complete except for motor we are trying to chase the original up but the guy rebuilding it has moved, could I get a complete running “used” one shipped here? He was wrong and admitted it and gets fucked because of who he is. Nothing good will come from this- no one learns from this- except that the system is still corrupt. A WARM SUNDAY CANTINA GREETING– Every once in a while you receive a cute e-mail that warms your heart and you just want to pass it along.
A salesman goes up to a house and knocks on the front door. It’s opened by a little ten year-old boy who has a lighted cigar in one hand, a glass of whiskey in the other and a Penthouse magazine tucked under his arm.
Salesman: “Hello son. Is your mom or dad home ?”
Little boy: “What the fuck do you think?”

Bloomberg Wants to “Counter” the NRA — It is old news to gun owners that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is not a friend. As one of the leading proponents of new gun laws, Bloomberg has already earned his place in the Second Amendment rights hall of shame. But apparently, Hizzoner does not believe he is doing enough to destroy our rights. On an appearance on “Meet the Press Of course, as anti-gunners regularly do, Bloomberg ignores the fact that the NRA only has clout because we represent the beliefs of tens of millions of Americans who oppose the anti-gun agenda. Recent polling has repeatedly shown that the majority of Americans support the individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Scorpion?s Sport Jacket Gets The Green Flag– (Lake Forest, CA August 13, 2009) The Sport jacket has grabbed the holeshot in advance of the 2010 ScorpionExoWear men?s collection. Designed as the ultimate all-rounder, the Sport is tough enough for the track, but equally ready for the road.
Combining the best of both worlds, roadrace-spec 1.2-1.4mm full grain leather construction is further bolstered by ExoTec CE-approved armor at the elbows and shoulders. A back protector compartment padded with temper foam was also incorporated into the design with safety in mind.
Of course not every day is track day, so comfort was as important as safety when it came to the design brief. Stretch panels in the sleeves offer optimal flexibility on and off the bike. Speaking of off the bike, generous handwarmer pockets provide added convenience, and there is an internal stash pocket for valuables as well.
Perforations in the leather panels enhance airflow during the heat of the day, as does the lightweight perforated nylon lining. However for after-dark activities, a full-sleeve EverHeat thermal liner can be inserted to keep riders plenty comfortable. Adding to the versatility is reflective trim front and back for enhanced visibility and a leather belt loop to attach riding pants.
The Sport jacket is available in sizes SM through 2XL in both basic black or a stylish silver with black trim.
Available exclusively from Scorpion dealers
MSRP for the Sport Jacket: $389.95 ($404.95 for 2XL sizes)

BIKERNET ARTIST BEATS BIKERNET TO THE PUNCH– You got’ta catch up. I posted this Knuck (2 photos attached), on the blog last February in my coverage of that month’s Long Beach Swap Meet. Just figured it was some regular swap meet builder’s clean ride.
Sorry, I didn’t know who Gilby Clarke was or that Mr. Bullock built it, until I read the news .
Here’s what I wrote for the caption: “A very nice knuck. Minor stuff like the modern rear brake and foot controls are a bit out of place for my taste. None too sure about that tail pipe but still a clean ride”.
Personally, I like older bikes using more traditional parts. Was going to make a crack about that tail pipe looking like it’s from a Hoover but refrained.
Notion: Seeing the FBFR in the news got me thinking. It would be nice to show it before you ride the hell out of it and dirty it all up. El Camino is only next month and I believe they have a custom or special interest class. You’ll probably have finished in time. Might be the perfect place to unveil it.

THE END–I’m running late. This coming week will rock with a cool JIMS tool tech, Camy’s run to Sturgis feature, the Buell build from Chop N Grind. I still have the Mongol court case coverage and a helmet study that pisses me off.

I don’t get how they completely miss the point. You’ll see next week, right here on Bikernet. They want us to wear larger and thicker full face helmets; no matter how many accidents and injuries they cause, you’re head will be safe, until it breaks your neck. Then we’ll pack our bags and hit the road to bring you a D&D, K&N and Compu-Fire Evo upgrade tech from the brothers at the new Chop N Grind Performance facility in the desert.
Ride Forever,
