Piaggio, Ducati, BRP Recalling Units, Starting with: PIAGGIO X9 500 & BV 500– Piaggio USA, Inc. is recalling 2,428 units of its 2005-2008 X9 500 and BV 500 scooters due to a fuel hose problem.
Piaggio says the fuel hose connecting the fuel filter to the fuel pump may come loose. If this fuel hose connection is loose, or has become completely disconnected, then there will be a drop in or loss of fuel pressure to the engine, resulting in engine stalling.
Dealers are asked to replace the length of fuel hose connecting the fuel pump to the fuel filter free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 15.
DUCATI 1098R, 1098 STREETFIGHTER & 1198S
Ducati North America is recalling 732 units of its model year 2009 1098R, 1098S Streetfighter and 1198S because forks may have possible cracking due to a deformation at the right-hand side fork axle pinch bolt area.
Ducati says it will notify owners and repair the affected motorcycles free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin this month.
BRP CAN-AM SPYDER
BRP may recall up to 9,932 units of its model year 2008-2009 Can-Am Spyder Roadster for a steering issue.
BRP says a condition may exist where the operator of an involved vehicle may need to exert a force greater than expected to initiate the turning of the steering handlebar off center in order to correct vehicle drift from a straight line path. This higher-than-expected steering control input torque may cause a steering angle overshoot and an unexpected deviation of the vehicle from the operator’s intended path.
BRP has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. However, the OEM says dealers would be asked to inspect and replace/repair the appropriate components free of charge. ?Submitted by Guido Ebert

Joint Venture Between Klock Werks Kustom Cycles and Kiwi Indian Motorcycles– MITCHELL, SD – Kiwi Indian and Klock Werks Kustom Cycles have formed a joint venture to help move both companies forward. Mike Tomas of Kiwi Indian has already moved his parts distribution from California to Mitchell, SD. Said Mike, “Brian and I are close friends who share the same work ethic and long-term vision about the future of our respective businesses.” Kiwi?s service/repair work, restorations, manufacturing, and new bike building will remain in California for now.
?This is a project Mike, my wife Laura and I have talked about for three years, so in light of the economy, yes it?s a good move. SEMA EFFORT TO HELP MOTORCYCLE RIGHTS THROUGH AFTERMARKET COMPANIES– I read the Bikernet News early Friday. I think you are going in the right direction and that it is going to work. Just need to light a fire under some peoples ass to keep things moving. Starting with one person and that person convincing a friend and then both of them convincing another friend the pyramid starts and just continues to grow.

STURGIS Aftermarket Roundtable, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, MODERATED BY BANDIT– The Aftermarket Roundtable will feature approximately seven nationally recognized product manufacturers and suppliers of the V-Twin aftermarket and two moderators. TEXAS CHAMPIONS UNITE AT DUCATI AUSTIN ON JUNE 16– Four Time World and AMA Champion Doug Polen and Three Time AMA Flattrack and AMA Superbike Champion Bubba Shobert will be on hand for autographs at Ducati Austin, Austin Texas June 16 from 5-6 pm, and will attend a Ducati-oriented track day on the following Wednesday 17th.
Doug Polen, 2 X World Superbike Champion,1991 and 1992 World Superbike Champion, Doug Polen is credited with racking up the most wins in a season. Polen is also the 1993 AMA Superbike Champion and ’97 and ’98 World Endurance Champion. He currently teaches riding techniques at his One-on-One schools across the U.S.
Bubba Shobert, 1985-’87 AMA Grand National Champion 1988 AMA Superbike Champion 1986, ’87 AMA Pro Athlete of the Year. He is currently grooming both of his sons, Clint and Cole Shobert to follow in his footsteps.
Following the meet and greet in the store, the the Champions will head down for a private session at Harris Hill Road Road Course (HHR) in San Marcos Texas to turn some laps and give a review of the track. In addition Polen will be reviewing the 2010 Ducati Streetfighter.
