COPY EDITOR FIXES BIKERNET NEWS– Bandit, I didn’t know the stars collided for you. Is there a girl writing for you?

“hate to see historic Motorcycle Brand drug through the mud.”

Her grasp of the English language isn’t as good as yours. I could do better. “I’d hate to see an historic motorcycle brand dragged through the mud,” would have been proper. yes. “an” before an “h.” you folks write the shit, email it to me and i’ll make it look like everybody went to college for a whole week. i’ll be drunk when i do it and it will be perfect.

No, i’m not as cute as the girl who edited this week’s news, but your mag won’t be more fucked up than the horse, like it is now. god bless those guys. they should hire me, too. i’ve got more tattoos and cooler scars than anybody. thank god the scars haven’t fucked up a tattoo. i figure if i tattoo my whole body, i’ll be invincible. muah ha ha ha ha! i ride a 110″ v-twin made in ohio.

freedom or death.

TOUGH TIMES IN TEXAS–It is a slow day in the East Texas town of Madisonville. It is raining, and the little town looks totally deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt and everybody lives on credit.

On this particular day a rich tourist from the East is driving through town.

He enters the only hotel in the sleepy town and lays a hundred dollar bill on the desk stating he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night.

As soon as the man walks up the stairs, the hotel proprietor takes the hundred dollar bill and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher.

The butcher takes the $100 and runs down the street to pay his debt to the pig farmer.

The pig farmer then takes the $100 and heads off to pay his debt to the supplier of feed and fuel.

The guy at the Farmer’s Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has lately had to offer her “services” on credit..

The hooker runs to the hotel and pays off her debt with the $100 to the hotel proprietor, paying for the rooms that she had rented when she brought clients to that establishment.

The hotel proprietor then lays the $100 bill back on the counter so the rich traveler will not suspect anything. At that moment the traveler from the East walks back down the stairs, after inspecting the rooms..

He picks up the $100 bill and states that the rooms are not satisfactory…… Pockets the money and walks out the door and leaves town.

No one earned anything.. However the whole town is now out of debt, and looks to the future with a lot of optimism.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is how the United States Government is conducting business.

If that doesn’t scare the hell out of you, then I don’t know what will.

NRA ALERTS, New D.C. Rules Mark One-Year Anniversary of Historic Heller Decision– June 26, marked the one-year anniversary of the landmark D.C. v. Heller case, in which the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Washington, D.C.’s handgun ban and affirmed that the Second Amendment protects an individual right. The Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects “the individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation. This meaning is strongly confirmed by the historical background of the Second Amendment.”

Yet despite this great victory, we can’t rest on our laurels. Those who would still deny our Second Amendment freedoms are always looking for ways to thwart our success and reverse that decision. And while the case affirmed that the Second Amendment prohibits the federal government, and federal entities such as Washington, D.C., from banning handguns for self-defense, the decision did not resolve the separate question of whether the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments.

Piracy And The Right To Self Defense — Last month we reported on the arming of merchant mariners to allow them to defend their crews and ships from pirate attacks. We noted that, with the increase in pirate attacks on the high seas, many are now realizing that firearms and armed citizens can be as effective a criminal deterrent at sea, as they are on land.

STUDY FROM BIKERNET MARRIAGE COUNSELOR SCHOOL, WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?– Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough.

— Lynnette, age 8 (isn’t she a treasure)

On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date. — Martin , age 10

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR? I ‘d run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns. — Craig , age 9

QUICK, LET’S GET OUT OF WASHINGTON D.C.– There was an interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week. Here is the quote:

“If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 % more likely to be shot and killed in the U.S. capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the U.S., than you are in Iraq.”

Conclusion: The U.S. should pull out of Washington.

Tucker Rocky Adds Scorpion Helmets to Lineup– Tucker Rocky Distributing is adding the Scorpion helmet brand to its line of distributed products.

Scorpion Sports, Inc. (SSI) has spent the past five years supplying Scorpion brand products dealer-direct, and the company plans to continue marketing and selling Scorpion helmets and apparel in that same fashion.

“We are looking for increased market penetration and ease of ordering from the dealer network,” says Jang Park, chairman of Kido Corp. ? parent company of SSI. “Adding Tucker Rocky as a distributor will help to achieve this goal.”

Park says Kido will be attending the Tucker Rocky sales meeting in July to show both TR reps and dealers the latest in Scorpion helmets. Slated for introduction is the new EXO 900 TransformerHelmet, a totally modular, multipurpose lid.

Tucker Rocky plans to have Scorpion helmet inventory available by September.

WEEKEND TECH INVESTIGATION– I have a 1996 1200 Evo MAg Wheels, 16,000 miles belt driven, have a knocking noise. Noise just started overnight, like pecking on wood. Coming from either primary or rear wheel bearing?? Ran it about 30mpg, killed moto and let it coast in neutral ,not motor, cant tell for sure where noise is coming from . going down hill noise picks up in faster rotation.Like rock in tire, but noise is either in primary or rear wheel Changed oil and filter ,no shavings there.Tighten primary chain, still noise.New rear tire and brakes 1000 miles ago .Dont know what bad bearing sounds like never had one go out before. I can even push it and with every rotation that comes around I can hear a knock.Any clues on how to determine what my problem is and what to do ,I am lost and going to sleep on it.

BACK TO THE BIKERNET BLONDE ARCHIVES–THE PLANE IS ON ITS WAY TO HOUSTON WHEN THE BLONDE IN ECONOMY CLASS GETS UP AND MOVES TO THE FIRST CLASS SECTION AND SITS DOWN.

THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT WATCHES HER DO THIS AND ASKS TO SEE HER TICKET. SHE THEN TELLS THE BLONDE THAT SHE PAID FOR ECONOMY CLASS AND THAT SHE WILL HAVE TO SIT IN THE BACK. THE BLONDE REPLIES, “I’M BLOND, I’M BEAUTIFUL, I’M GOING TO HOUSTON AND I’M STAYING RIGHT HERE.”

THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT GOES INTO THE COCKPIT AND TELLS THE PILOT AND THE CO-PILOT THAT THERE IS A BLONDE SITTING IN FIRST CLASS THAT BELONGS IN ECONOMY AND WON’T MOVE BACK TO HER SEAT.

THE CO-PILOT GOES BACK TO THE BLONDE AND TRIES TO EXPLAIN THAT BECAUSE SHE ONLY PAID FOR ECONOMY SHE WILL HAVE TO LEAVE AND RETURN TO HER SEAT.

THE BLONDE REPLIES, “I’M BLONDE, I’M BEAUTIFUL, I’M GOING TO HOUSTON, AND I’M STAYING RIGHT HERE.”

THE CO-PILOT TELLS THE PILOT THAT HE PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE THE POLICE WAITING WHEN THEY LAND TO ARREST THIS BLONDE WOMAN WHO WON’T LISTEN TO REASON.

THE PILOT SAYS, “YOU SAY SHE IS A BLONDE? I’LL HANDLE THIS. I’M MARRIED TO A BLONDE. I SPEAK BLONDE.”

HE GOES BACK TO THE BLONDE AND WHISPERS IN HER EAR. SHE SAYS, “OH, I’M SORRY.” SHE GETS UP AND GOES BACK TO HER SEAT IN ECONOMY.

THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT AND CO-PILOT ARE AMAZED AND ASKED HIM WHAT HE SAID TO MAKE HER MOVE WITHOUT ANY FUSS.

I TOLD HER. . . “FIRST CLASS ISN’T GOING TO HOUSTON”.

A CALIFORNIA LETTER TO ALL FREEDOM FIGHTERS– Our out-of-state brothers and sisters may be our most effective resource in fighting the motorcycle smog bill SB 435. As it stands as of this writing, SB 435 has been passed to the Assembly as a SMOG CHECK BILL on the verbal promise to amend but has not yet been fulfilled. It would appear that it may go so far as to include all 3 (smog check, noise, and catalytic converter with random pull over inspection thrown in for good measure).

ABATE of CA is asking all out of state motorcyclists to contact the Chairman of the Assembly Transportation Committee, Mike Eng at phone 916-319-2049 fax 916-319-2149 email Assemblymember.Eng@asm.ca.gov and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at phone 916-445-2841 fax 916-558-3160 email gov.ca.gov > and let them know that if you are going to be at risk of being singled out and pulled over for exhaust system inspections when you come to this state then you will choose another location to spend your vacation dollars, That you urge their no vote on SB 435.

This must be completed before June 29th.

Unfortunately many laws of this type start in California and spread to other states, the place to stop it is here and now, then hopefully you won’t have to deal with anything like this in your state.

CHAMPION 1968 CHEVROLET CORVETTE L88 ?SCUDERIA FILIPINETTI ? LE MANS RACE CAR AND HISTORIC 1953 FERRARI 166MM SPIDER SCAGLIETTI JOIN RM?S MONTEREY SALE– BLENHEIM, Ontario (June 25, 2009) ? Preeminent international auction house, RM Auctions, is delighted to announce the consignment of a champion 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L88 ?Scuderia Filipinetti? Le Mans Race Car and a historic 1953 Ferrari 166MM Spider Scaglietti to its highly anticipated Sports & Classics of Monterey event, August 13th to 15th in California.

The recently consigned 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L88 ‘Scuderia Filipinetti’ Le Mans Race Car ? chassis number 194378-S-410300 – holds a unique place in Corvette history. Entered by Swiss racing patron, Georges Filipinetti with a Zora Arkus-Duntov prepared motor, and driven by Henri Greder and Umberto Maglioli, this L88 Corvette made its Le Mans debut in 1968. It returned for the 24 Hours of Le Mans five more times ? consecutively ? up until 1973, a record that remains unbroken by any single chassis.

The 1953 Ferrari 166MM Spider Scaglietti, chassis number 0050 M, is another extremely important car with a fascinating history – it was given by Enzo Ferrari to his son Dino for a design project with Scaglietti. It is known as the first Scaglietti-bodied competition Ferrari and its attractive, rakish styling resulted in the prototype for the subsequent 750 Monza and 500 Mondial models. Sold to Chinetti in 1954 and raced enthusiastically by Danny Collins in Colorado, 0050 M was restored first in the 1960s and again prior to running the Mille Miglia Storica in 2005. It is being offered at the Monterey event from one of America’s foremost collections.

The historic 0050 M will be joined by no less than 25 other milestone Ferraris in Monterey ? one of the company?s largest offerings to date outside of Maranello ? to cement RM?s reputation as the market leader when it comes to offering significant Ferraris at auction. Also set to cross the block – a rare 1952 Ferrari 225 Sport Vignale Berlinetta, one of just six examples built and boasting an impressive early race history; an award-winning 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder, formerly owned by the legendary LA Lakers player and coach, Jerry West; and a 2003 Ferrari Enzo, as well as a 288GTO and F40 to round out the supercar range.

Now in its 24th year, RM?s annual Sports & Classics of Monterey event was the first and original auction held during the now famous Pebble Beach motoring weekend. Over the years the event has been witness to the sale of some of the world?s most important and significant collector cars, attracting discerning collectors from around the world. This year?s event, returning to the Portola Hotel & Spa and Monterey Convention Center, August 13th to 15th, is set to continue the grand tradition with over 200 investment quality cars on offer. The auction preview will commence August 12th from 12noon ? 6:00pm, followed by full-day previews on August 13th through 15th with auction action each evening. Admission to the auction is $40.00 USD per person. An official auction catalog is available for an additional $100 USD (please note, a catalog does not constitute entry to the sale).

For further information and full event details, please visit www.rmauctions.com or call 800-211-4371 (within North America) or +1 519 352 4575.

BLAST OFF–I’m outta here. I’m going to meet with the Doctor of art, and we’re going to hash out a Chance Hogan I, Harbor Town Seductioncover design.

peashooterpiston

Yesterday I met with the gang at Sierra Madre Motorcycles to pick up my 1929 Peashooter C motor. I’ll bring you a tech on the Peashooter Stroker Motor, Tom “Rodan” Evans is rebuilding for our single cylinder Bonneville effort. This tiny bike will rock the salt, with a 1-inch tall stroker plate.

We gutted this motor to find all the parts we could to salvage the overhead valve job. I traded Billy Lane a Pope engine for the 350cc. “It’s actually it’s 3 X 3 X 4 X now,” said Rodan. “That’s 7854 = 28.27 cu in, X 16.3871 = 463 cc.”

Tomorrow book chapters will fly to Dave Barnett, who publishes horror novels. I’ll file for the library of congress number and we’ll be that much closer to a print date.

Tomorrow, I might try to find the Big Dog SkilSaw contest bike on display in Marina Del Rey. I’ll also pick up my 5-Ball Factory Racer powder and begin final assembly. Should be an interesting week.

Ride Forever,
