Hey,
This is turning into a news with a theme. It’s about going green without regulations. It’s one of my pet peeves. We start with a good notion then fuck it up with an all-powerful bureaucracy. We need to make it clear that the same folks who start a government agency can shut it down, or the voters will handle it for them.
My contention is that we need balance in agencies. Agency management needs to recognize that we live in a free country. In order to honor that freedom we need to balance agency control, not run amuck. Check the news below. There’s a web site started to kill CARB in California. They are over-stepping their bounds in the Golden State, plus they’re excitedly attempting to force other states into the fold. It’s all nuts. So let’s hit the news and see if we can have some fun and make sense of something at the end:

FUEL ADDITIVE RECEIVES POSITIVE RESPONSE– I have been using the Oxytane you sent me in my 88ci Harley all summer. Right away I noticed a difference in starting and idling. Even with Marsha on the back, I had an increase in gas mileage and better overall performance.
I gave some to several fellow riders and they too were amazed with the change in their own bikes. I’ll tell anybody that this stuff WORKS and they should try it.
Thanks for turning me on to Oxytane. I am totally satisfied with what it has done for my motorcycle.

Some of that time was a result of tweaking the proposed bill to meet valid changes suggested by the Florida dept. of Highway safety. This new and hopefully last revision has been posted at http://www.stopfloridahighwaykillingsnow.com/
If you are on good terms with your legislative representatives we suggest contacting them with this bill and requesting they either sign on as sponsors or co sponsors.

FLORIDA LAWSUITS Challenge Red Light Camera Legality– Class action lawsuit seeks to take down red light camera program in Temple Terrace, Florida.
A number of Florida cities that rushed to install red light cameras without legislative authorization now face legal challenge. Florida attorney Jack L. Townsend, Sr joined with the firm Edwards and Ragatz on July 30 in filing a class action lawsuit against the city of Temple Terrace for allowing American Traffic Solutions (ATS) to operate a traffic camera program designed to generate $3 million in annual revenue primarily from vehicles turning right on red lights. Because the state legislature has consistently declined to allow automated ticketing, the legal status of such systems has even been questioned by the leading photo enforcement vendor.
“Legal opinions indicate that automated enforcement in the state of Florida remains illegal,” Redflex Traffic Systems explained in an Australian
Townsend’s primary argument against Temple Terrace is that state law already covers the infraction of red light running and Section 316.007 of Florida statutes does not allow municipalities to “enact or enforce any ordinance on a matter covered by this chapter unless expressly authorized.” A 2005, ruling by then-Attorney General Charlie Crist (now governor) advanced the same argument (view ruling Like other Florida cities, Temple Terrace claims to “get around” this restriction by creating its own type of ordinance violation that is adjudicated by a newly created red light camera “hearing officer.” Townsend argues that the state constitution gave the legislature exclusive jurisdiction over the civil traffic hearing officer system and it cannot just create a quasi-judicial system on a whim. “No other courts may be established by the state, any political subdivision or any municipality,” Article 5, Section 1 of the Florida Constitution states. Because Temple Terrace cannot use state law to enforce its camera tickets, the city’s ordinance states that a vehicle owner who fails to pay a citation will be “denied any rights and privileges that such person may otherwise be entitled to enjoy, receive, or benefit from the city of Temple Terrace, including… the right to utilize municipal facilities, and the right to obtain any licenses or permits contemplated in the code.” Townsend argues that this punishment is excessive and violates the due process rights of vehicle owners. In 2007, the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled against an argument nearly identical to that of Temple Terrace based on a law, also part of Florida’s code, requiring uniformity in traffic laws (view ruling –from Rogue South Side Kustoms bring you this “UNIQUE” Oil Tank– Unlike the competitor’s – this one is HALF the cost but with all the same bang for your buck, and a “Unique” oil fill cap. AND NOW FROM THE BIKERNET BLONDE VAULT– A blonde goes into work one morning crying her eyes out. Her boss asked sympathetically, ‘What’s the matter?’
The blonde replies, ‘Early this morning I got a phone call saying that my mother had passed away.’
The boss, feeling sorry for her, says, ‘Why don’t you go home for the day? Take the day off to relax and rest.’
‘Thanks, but I’d be better off here. I need to keep my mind off it and I have the best chance of doing that here.
The boss agrees and allows the blonde to work as usual. A couple of hours pass and the boss decides to check on the blonde. He looks out from his office and sees the blonde crying hysterically.
‘What’s so bad now? Are you gonna be okay?’ he asks.
‘No!’ exclaims the blonde. ‘I just received a horrible call from my sister. Her mother died, too.

Former detective admits illegal use of computers– Laurie Staley-Stone, the first female detective on the Town of Hamburg Police Department, admitted Wednesday that she illegally used police computers to gather information that was passed on to the president of a local motorcycle gang, currently in jail awaiting trial on racketeering charges.
Staley-Stone, 45, did not say why she did it, but U. S. Attorney Kathleen M. Mehltretter said the detective had a personal relationship with a Chosen Few motorcycle gang member.
Assistant U. S. Attorney Anthony M. Bruce told a federal magistrate judge that FBI agents found license plate information for the father of a Kingsmen motorcycle gang member when they raided the home of Alex Koschtschuk, president of the rival Chosen Few.
Koschtschuk, 58, is one of 20 Chosen Few members and associates charged with racketeering for engaging in a blood feud with the Kingsmen and another local gang, the Lonely Ones.
Staley-Stone has resigned from the Hamburg force and turned in her weapons, but she will be allowed to collect her pension in the misdemeanor plea deal obtained by her attorney, Joel L. Daniels.
The detective, under nonmandatory sentencing guidelines, could be sentenced up to six months in jail, fined as much as $10,000 and given a year?s supervised release for the guilty plea. She will be sentenced Nov. 22.

RM AUCTIONS ANNOUNCES CONSIGNMENTS FROM TWO IMPORTANT US COLLECTIONS FOR HERSHEY AUCTION– BLENHEIM, Ontario (August 28, 2009) ? Preeminent international auction house, RM Auctions, is delighted to announce consignments from two important US collections to its annual Vintage Motor Cars of Hershey event ? a magnificent series of motor cars from Cleveland, Ohio?s esteemed Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, a collection of the Western Reserve Historical Society, and over 400 lots of memorabilia from a prominent East Coast collector.
These latest consignments have seen the addition of a second day to this year?s auction program ? now scheduled for October 8th and 9th – with over 100 motor cars and 400 lots of memorabilia to be offered during the two days. Returning to the Hershey Lodge, the auction will again coincide with the famed AACA Eastern Division Fall Meet to make for a memorable vintage car weekend for motoring enthusiasts.
?The Crawford Auto Aviation Museum is regarded as one of North America?s premier automotive collections. We are honored to have been selected to present a series of automobiles from this property of the Western Reserve Historical Society at our upcoming Hershey event,? said Ian Kelleher, President and Chief Operating Officer of RM Auctions.
?Each lot has been carefully preserved and many are coming to market for the first time in a number of years after long-term display, resulting in tremendous early interest amongst serious collectors,? he added.
Headlining the list of consignments from the Crawford collection is a 1949 Belanger Special Indy Roadster. Tracing its origins to a car first built by Myron Stevens for American Hall of Fame race car driver Louis Meyer in 1930, this racing car competed nearly every year at Indy up until 1950, placing as high as fourth, twice. It earned numerous speed lap records in the late 1940s and has had many famous drivers behind the wheel including Mauri Rose, Wilber Shaw, Tony Bettenhausen and Duane Carter.
Additionally, it has also been featured in two motion pictures, including the 1939 film Burn ?Em Up O?Connor and the 1950 film To Please A Lady, starring Clark Gable and Barbara Stanwyck. After being updated and modernized over the years, it has been restored to its 1949 livery, the way it was raced by Duane Carter. Formerly part of the Harrah’s Collection, the Belanger has been owned by the Western Reserve Historical Society since 1991 and offers a rare opportunity to purchase a unique piece of Indy racing history.
Also on offer and expected to draw considerable interest is extremely rare and desirable 1928 Front Wheel Drive Miller 91 Engine, originally owned by the Mike Boyle racing team. Boyle driver, Fred Comer, constructed a unique and unusual intercooler of 72 half-inch copper tubes, each approximately nine inches long, for the engine. This important piece of automotive history was acquired by Mr. Crawford during the 1930s. It was prominently displayed at the Thompson Auto Album from the late 1940s through early 1960s before gifted to the Western Reserve Historical Society by Mr. Crawford in 1964. It is arguably one of the most important Miller artifacts to come in the market in decades having been in single ownership since the 1930s.
In total, 24 cars from the collection are slated for RM?s Hershey auction. Other highlights include; a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible, believed to have been owned by Bill Mitchell, former head of Cadillac design; an all-original 1973 Jaguar E-Type with just 11,000 miles from new; a 1976 Cadillac Brougham, used by Milton Wolf of the Austrian Embassy; and a well-documented 1930 Bugatti Type 44 Touring and a 1919 Locomobile Type 48 Series 5 Sportif, both of which have been on long-term display at the Crawford. The selection of cars slated for the Hershey auction follows the recent sale of two other important cars from the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum at RM?s recent Monterey event ? a 1966 Aston Martin DB5 and a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupe, both of which attracted spirited bidding and well-exceeded their original pre-sale estimates.
RM?s Vintage Motor Cars of Hershey event will be held October 8th and 9th, 2009 at the Hershey Lodge, West Chocolate Avenue & University Drive. Hershey, Pennsylvania. A full day preview will commence on Thursday, October 8th from 9am, with all the auction action getting underway from 12noon ? 8pm. On Friday, doors open at 9am with the auction commencing at 2pm.

Here?s to another successful year of the Annual Baker Burnout Drags at the Legendary Buffalo Chip ? Sturgis? original burnout drag competition! And boy, what a night it was– The 2nd Annual BAKER Burnout Drags were an intense stationary burnout drag race tournament that put twelve industry bad-asses head-to-head in a steel cage for no holds barred competition; Graciously sponsored in part by Avon Tyres, Ethanol Fuels, Indian Motorcycles, New Belgium Brewing and Spectro Oils.
Not even a torrential downpour, gale-force winds and fierce hail could stop the high octane competition as the 2nd annual Baker Burnout Drags kicked off a night of righteous fury and rubber burning fun before rockers Buckcherry took the stage at the Legendary Buffalo Chip, Sturgis, SD.

Big thank-you?s go out to the folks at the Legendary Buffalo Chip for hosting this night of chaotic, tire-melting fun! The format was merely this: The first one to shift to a 5th gear burnout wins the heat, and moves onward, in a bracket style format. Twelve contenders in all, competing in the half-hour, energy-filled tournament; this brave dozen in the contest were prominent bike builders and industry folk (special thanks to those who dove in at the last minute to fill spaces that were backed out of by others!): in no particular order
X Bill Dodge: defending Baker Burnout King 2008 ? Blings Cycles
X Jerry Covington ? Covington Cycles
X Athena ?Chickie? Ransom ? Vagabond Choppers
X Paul Wideman ? Bare Knuckle Choppers
X Laura Klock ? Klock Werks X Kevin ?Teach? Baas ? Baas Metalcraft
X Bean?re ? Biker Gypsy
X Ken ?Wolfey? Wolfe ? S&S
X Pat Patterson ? Led Sleds
X Randy Winchel ? Framelock
X Dar Holdsworth ? Brass Balls Bobbers and Choppers
X John Schope ? Sinister Choppers

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was none other than Mr.Roadside Marty, and the guest judges were Scott Lerg and James Simonelli: two of Baker?s finest sales and tech guys. The bikes the contenders used were of every flavor from drag bikes racing bobbers, choppers vs. baggers competing against radical customs.
The men and women in pits gave it their all on these bikes, some of them after riding out in a massive hail storm to the Chip just for our event! The primal energy and the spirit of competition filled the smoky air as the victor was determined in the end: Ken Wolfe from S&S was named the Baker Burnout King 09. Ken joined the competition the day of, to fill a space left open by another competitor needing to back out due to an emergency.
The final race was between Bill Dodge and Ken and it was a close match ? needing to be called on the best of three! What a close outcome! Ken won $1000 gift certificate to Baker Drivetrain for his victory. Avon Tyres displayed a monumental gesture of generosity by offering replacement rear tires to the competitors.
