On Thursday night we left after school to head to Cedar Lake. Friday morning, it was open practice for kids and at night it was open practice for adults. I rode from 9 am to 9pm. Friday night I had to flip my rear tire (DT4). At nine o’clock there was a hot dog eating contest. Everyone from D16 and D23 that camped were there. Our district referee and my friend’s dad participated. It was fun.
Saturday, in heats I took all firsts. The track felt great but I had to mess around with my tires before mains because my rear tire (DT4) was down to the wire. My mom and I took my front DT4 off and put in on the rear. Adam Schmidt from the Flying Dutchmen gave me 4 old Maxxis tires so we put one of those on the front.
In mains I took 2nd in open youth and 3rd in super mini. I was all over track so my mom checked my tire pressure and set it to 12. In 85 I took First which put me in the running for our district championship. After the races, we changed my rear tire to a Maxxis because that one was bald too. In total we did 4 tire changes.
Sunday, I only went out for practice twice because I didn’t want to burn through my tires. In heats, I took two firsts and a second because my friend crashed which caused a staggered restart and the lights were messed up for the restart. In mains I took all firsts and was able to get enough points to win D16 championship for 85 and open youth. I gave my first-place trophies to a kid that try’s really hard to get on podium but can’t.
