THE SALTY BIKERNET WEEKLY NEWS—for August 19th, 2026

Hey,

I’m going to make this quick. We are packing to hit the road tomorrow morning to the Bonneville Salt Flats. Berry Wardlaw is already in Wyoming from Dothan, Alabama. He’s pulling the rebuilt Assalt Weapan 120-inch Panhead and the sister bike, the Bonne Belle 45 flathead is coming from Richmond, VA.

An old Vietnam vet, like me has the flathead in the back of his pickup. Yesterday, as they loaded it, Brian, Andrew and James installed an electronic speedo on the handlebars. This year everything became last minute, like the never-arriving pistons for the Assalt Weapan.

You might not hear from me next Thursday, but the following week will be packed with reports.

Let’s hit the news.

The Bikernet Weekly News was created by our non-stop, never give up staff: The Redhead, Wayfarer, LA Laura, Viscous Vickie, Danial James, Freak Show Team, Sturgis Prospect Kendra, Paul Davis, Agent Zebra and Berry Wardlaw.

Getting A Flat Tire On A Motorcycle Is Never A Fun Experience

Whether you’ve just purchased a new spoked motorcycle wheel from Lowbrow, scored a great deal on a wheel at a swap meet, or had a fresh wheel professionally built…

There’s one important step you should never skip before mounting your tire!

Check out our quick how-to video as Tim shows this important step: inspecting your wheel, identifying proud spoke ends, and grinding them flush.

Look close. No, not real! This one is also AI generated.

It’s a simple step that can help keep you riding instead of sitting on the side of the road, bummed!

Make sure to check any spokes protruding from nipples and grind them flat.

Milwaukee, WI, August 10, 2026 – Royal Enfield North America has announced a new partnership with Vintage Rides, expanding the brand’s international involvement with the adventure motorcycle travel partner, bringing guided and self-guided motorcycle tours on Royal Enfield motorcycles to riders across the United States for the first time.

The collaboration marks another milestone in Royal Enfield’s 125th year, as they strengthen their commitment to inspiring exploration through motorcycling experiences. Already offering curated adventures across global destinations including the Himalayas, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, Royal Enfield and Vintage Rides are now extending their successful global partnership to North America.

Located in the spectacular Black Hills of South Dakota, the Vintage Rides’ North American fleet will also have rental availability of their travel-prepared Royal Enfields, as the launch coincides with one of motorcycling’s most iconic gatherings, the 2026 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, taking place August 7-16, 2026. Riders will have the opportunity to experience the Black Hills and surrounding landscapes aboard Royal Enfield motorcycles before visiting the legendary rally, combining scenic roads and the local culture at their own leisure.

Riders can also look to opt one of the self-guided tours, with curated routes dedicated to exploring, on the Best of the Black Hills, and Black Hills Blast tours, departing on the 17th August, following the conclusion of Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

I had this one earlier. I have now downgraded to an Ethanol 20 tolerant aluminum engine Std Bullet model also from Royal Enfield—-Wayfarer@Bikernet.com

Future tours will see offerings across some of America’s most celebrated riding destinations, with both fully-guided expeditions led by experienced tour leaders, and self-guided adventures that allow riders to explore at their own pace, with carefully curated routes and accommodation on offer.

Nathan Kolbe, Royal Enfield Head of Marketing – Americas, commented: “Expanding the Vintage Rides and Royal Enfield partnership into North America provides a fantastic opportunity for both existing and potential Royal Enfield riders to experience adventure travel to its full. Riders can maximize riding enjoyment through the dynamic landscapes of North America, while letting the Vintage Rides team take care of the routes and accommodation so you don’t have to, all while riding a fleet of prepared Royal Enfield machinery.”

WAYFARER WANDERS INTO THE BAD JOKE LIBRARY

Terrible Puns and One-Liners

I am addicted to brake fluid. But I can stop anytime.

I stayed up all night to see where the sun went. Then it dawned on me.

My dog ate a shuttlecock. It was bad-minton.

Orion’s Belt is a huge waste of space. Truly a big waist of space.

Did you hear about the guy who invented the knock-knock joke? He won the no-bell prize.

WAYFARER WANDERS INTO A BAR—-

A man and a giraffe walk into a bar.

After a few drinks, the giraffe falls over and dies.

The man gets up to leave.

The bartender yells, “Hey, you can’t leave that lyin’ there!”

The man turns around and says, “It is not a lion. It is a giraffe.”

WAYFARER MOONLGHTS AS A FIREFIGHTER—

A firefighter rushed into a burning house and rescued a hot blonde.

The blonde looked up and said, “You are incredibly hot!”

The firefighter replied, “Thanks, it is mostly due to the smoke and heavy gear.”

WAYFARER ORDERS TAKEOUT—-

A man was looking through a window and saw his neighbor doing a wild dance in the living room.

He knocked on the door and asked, “What are you doing?”

The neighbor replied, “I am just trying to get the plastic wrap off this sandwich!”

WAYFARER FOOLED AROUND WITH A GIRL……FINALLY—-

A couple decided to try something spicy in bed, so they bought a book of positions.

They opened to page one, looked at the diagram, and immediately threw their backs out trying to read the fine print!

PACK YOUR SHIT AND HIT THE ROAD–

We are doing just that. A brother has a sick wife and needs stress relief. I told him riding and writing hit the spot always or find a new experience or a new destination for a ride.

Here’s an image from the past. This is the bike I built with Jesse James and his hard working associate. He was a cool guy. We poured over the Touring Chopper right up until a week before I rode it to Sturgis for the rally in about 1998. What a ride that was.

We were looking for a banner to take, but Dan the man knocked this out and the Quick Signs folks said they would have it finished today. Amazing.

Okay, the van is packed. Danial James came over with some of his shit. We are going to meet in the morning, load up, pick up Irish Rich, peel to Spearfish for the Banner and hit the road across Wyoming toward Interstate 80 and Rock Springs. We’re Bonneville bound and the event is up according to Delvene Manning and the weather holds so far.

Hang on for more reports…

And ride fast and free forever, goddammit!
