I like riding in cold weather. Breathing the brisk air, wearing all my heavy leathers and boots and cold weather gloves. I have heated gear but it’s a hassle plugging into everything and remembering to unplug when I dismount. I came across Charly Boorman’s ZeroFit endorsement. We all love the Long Way series and Charley’s been through it all… literally.
His statement that “ZeroFit was a complete game changer for rider in the coldest months” caught my attention. I immediately ordered the ZEROFIT MOVE bundle that included a free neck warmer (a critical element of cold weather riding). They offer 2 products: the ZEROFIT ULTIMATE Base layer which claims being 5-times warmer than standard products and, ZEROFIT HEAT RUB MOVE Base Layer product which claims to be twice as warm as standard base layer.
I’ve motorcycled the Himalayas and wish I had known about ZeroFit. You don’t know cold until you’ve ridden to the base of Mt Everest. Now, I live in Northern Arizona and at 4500 feet elevation it gets cold, for months. I typically wear thermals as a base layer and will have a good reference of ZeroFit’s effectiveness.
I ordered the ZEROFIT HEAT RUB MOVE Base Layer product which claims to be twice as warm as standard base layer. I figured if they are twice warmer than my thermals, I’m good. At 5’11 and 179 lbs. size large fits perfectly, snug but not uncomfortable. In fact, the multiple layers are not only functional but the inside layer is extremely comfortable and the turtle neck top give you added wind protection. And the neck warmer? a game changer.
ZeroFit’s 5 separate fabrics and patented knitting process not only traps body heat, their” Heat Threads” inside the base layers gently rub against your skin. The smallest movements create a positive friction, warming the body. This same science if offered in leggings and their neck warmer.
I wore leather riding pants over the ZEROFIT MOVE base layer and my Scorpion leather jacket with a zip in liner. Temperatures had dropped to 31 degrees the prior evening and the ambient air was 38 degrees for my ride. My Ducato ST2 has virtually no windscreen and a faring which offers little wind protection for my legs.
Out of the gate, the cool air that normally filters through the zippers of my leather jacket was almost imperceptible and my legs were noticeably warmer than my thermals. After a few hours of highway riding it was confirmed. Their statement that the ZEROFIT MOVE is a least twice as warm is legit! Their neck warmer is great! It covers the critical neck areas and has pull string to snug it up for a perfect fit.
I ordered the ZeroFit socks the next day. I image the ZeroFit base layers would be lifesavers in any cold weather application.
