Did you know there’s an ongoing fight to save the Sturgis Rally? Did you know a fight is brewing to save Harley-Davidson and I’m right in the middle of a battle to save Easyriders Magazine. Hell, President Trump is kicking ass to save our country and the Free World.

Oh, and I’m road-testing my VLXAFL and dealing with issues, plus struggling to reopen Bandit’s 5-Ball Emporium and helping with the Easyriders Streamliner exhibit. Yikes.

Let’s hit the news, and I’ll report on every effort. Take a look at that first paragraph again. What do all those elements represent to this country and to the world, Freedom, Innovation and the American Spirit.

Yesterday’s unanimous decision by the Ninth Circuit in Nguyen v. Bonta has struck down California’s “one‑gun‑per‑30‑days” restriction as unconstitutional.

CRPA, alongside the Second Amendment Law Center and Operation Blazing Sword–Pink Pistols, filed a compelling amicus brief in support of the plaintiffs, pointing out how the law unfairly barred new sport shooters from legally acquiring both a shotgun for hunting and a handgun for personal defense within the same month.

This law made a mockery of Bruen’s standard by imposing needless regulation on a fundamental right

The three‑judge panel, which even included an Obama appointee, confirmed that the statutory limit clearly encroaches on conduct protected by the plain text of the Second Amendment: owning multiple firearms.

 RESTORING THE GOLD STANDARD TO SCIENCE–

CO2 Coalition scientists promote adherence to the scientific method, a centuries-old approach to inquiry that stresses the testing of hypotheses with empirical data and requires absolute integrity in the pursuit of truth.

In the study of climate, too often this time-honored process has been replaced with groupthink. Debate has been suppressed to develop and preserve a so-called consensus. Government agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy and even NASA have trafficked in false, misleading and biased information to advance the narrative of a man-made climate crisis. Politicians and their allies in bureaucracies have silenced opposing voices and ignored contradictory facts.

Part of our campaign for scientific integrity was the April 27 publication of “Greenhouse Gases and Fossil Fuels Climate Science” by Drs. Richard Lindzen and William Happer. The report was hand-delivered to the White House, all heads of regulatory agencies and to political leaders of both major parties.

Less than a month later, on May 23, President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order titled “Restoring Gold Standard Science.” In announcing his action, President Trump said:

“My Administration is committed to restoring a gold standard for science to ensure that federally funded research is transparent, rigorous, and impactful, and that Federal decisions are informed by the most credible, reliable, and impartial scientific evidence available. We must restore the American people’s faith in the scientific enterprise and institutions that create and apply scientific knowledge in service of the public good.”

While the order did not cover all our recommendations, it included some and is a welcome and needed step in reforming a highly politicized and corrupt scientific establishment.

To borrow from John Paul Jones, we have just begun to fight.

How much of our precious energy do we surrender to fear?

How often do we become so entangled in the problem that we forget the solution is already within us?

Fear paralyzes our thinking. It clouds our decisions. It convinces us that it’s safer to stay small than to risk failure. I’ve known incredible people who have postponed their dreams indefinitely—not because they lacked talent or desire, but because fear whispered, what if you fail? That’s why I resonate so deeply with Robert Schuller’s words:

“I would rather attempt to do something great and fail, than do nothing and succeed.”

Take a moment this morning. Pause. Reflect.

How has fear held you back from living your dreams?

Make a list if you feel called to. Has fear kept you from speaking your truth? From taking a chance? From trusting that you will have enough? From starting over? From trying again?

And then… recall a time when you faced a fear—and overcame it. Remember how it felt to finally release its grip. That moment of liberation? That was your truth reclaiming its power.

Today, I choose courage.

I refuse to give my power to fear. I remember who I am—an expression of the Infinite.

BIKERNET GUN NUT REPORT–News Out of New Jersey You Won’t Believe: It’s Actually a Good Thing!

The Garden State is not where most seek positive developments regarding our right to arms, so we were pleasantly surprised when Englishtown, N.J., recently made a move to support the Second Amendment.  On June 11, the Englishtown Borough Council voted to refund the $150 local gun permit fee charged to those who wish to obtain a permit to carry a handgun.

While this is the first town in New Jersey to eliminate what amounts to a tax on the Second Amendment, there are rumblings that it will not be the last.

This ridiculous fee stems from New Jersy’s response to the ruling in NYSRPA v Bruen, when the United States Supreme Court recognized that citizens have a right to carry firearms for self-defense. The state, when it realized it could no longer arbitrarily deny issuing carry permits, decided to make them prohibitively expensive.  That scheme included making the cost $200, with $150 going to the municipality that issues the permit.

The previous cost of these permits was $20.

But Englishtown seems to have decided that it was more important to recognize the right to arms, rather than take part in a scheme to fleece citizens of their money that was clearly designed to deter interest in being able to lawfully provide for a constitutionally-protected, often life-saving self-defense option.

Englishtown Mayor Daniel Francisco, who introduced the proposal, noted, “In my capacity as mayor, it’s my job to protect my residents, including from the abuse of the state.  I introduced this proposal and lobbied my council to support it because no natural right should be held hostage to a paywall.”

Joe LoPorto, director of the New Jersey Firearm Owners Syndicate (NJFOS), spoke in support of resolution, and told NJ.com, “Our end goal here was obviously to help get this resolution passed in Englishtown, but we want to introduce this in as many jurisdictions and municipalities around the state as we can.”

To that end, LoPorto noted, “There are towns in Atlantic, Gloucester, Sussex, and Hunterdon counties that are, right now, considering this resolution,” adding. “We are working to circulate it through both a grassroots campaign and direct lobbying.”

NRA is greatly encouraged by what is going on in New Jersey, in spite of the state’s history of animosity towards the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

“Anti-gun politicians in New Jersey are trying to tax away our constitutional rights, and Englishtown made a powerful statement pushing back,” said NRA-ILA State Director Darin Goens.  “I would echo the sentiments of Mr. Loporto, and we hope this is just the beginning as communities stand up one by one in defense of the Second Amendment in New Jersey.”

BIKERS FOR THE STURGIS RALLY—This is a strange one.

There’s a movement in Sturgis to limit the rally. “My wife isn’t a fan,” the mayor said. Another city councilman said something about tolerating the world’s largest motorcycle rally. We need our elected officials to know what the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally means to the motorcycle family world wide. One Sturgis woman who traveled was stopped constantly by folks who commented about her Sturgis T-shirt. “I was proud,” she said.

A brother Rich Johnson, councilwoman Ruth and Marilyn Stemp are meeting tomorrow to help formulate a plan to share the love for the rally with our city council. The Rally isn’t going anywhere. We want it to grow, flourish and expand all in an effort to improve the City of Sturgis for the citizens.

CARDO GOES WOKE–and strides forward on its sustainability mission

Since Cardo outlined its commitment to integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into the core of its business operations in 2021, a series of changes implemented have contributed to a 40% reduction in Emission Intensity (EI) of the company in 2024 when compared to 2021.

Breaking down elements from creation to customer, Cardo has made significant changes. Every tweak, every box, every ride. All for a bigger mission.

One of the key measures has been the introduction of downloadable digital product guides instead of paper copies in the boxes. Not only does this allow the guides to be readily available, but it has also resulted in less paper being used, allowing for lighter shipments and reduced CO2 emissions.

A brand-new compact box design has decreased the original box size by a third making it possible to increase the number of units per pallet by 50%, therefore reducing the number of shipments required. Raw material shipping has been cut by 77% as the boxes now feature a folding design, further optimising freight logistics and the associated emissions from these activities.

As well as efficiency in the box size, Cardo has removed non-essential packing components including excess cardboard and plastic inserts and introduced recyclable materials. Each package is now curated with soy ink, created from renewable sources compared to traditional petroleum.

It’s not just the transportation of products that has been made increasingly environmentally friendly, last year, Cardo decided to lease and rent hybrid or electric vehicles only for business operations.

Looking to the future Cardo plans more, intending to deplete Scope 1 and 2* emissions by a total of 38% by 2030 compared with 2021, meaning the brand will continue to find new and innovative ways to achieve this goal.

Indian Motorcycle, America’s first motorcycle company, has announced the donation of a one-of-a-kind, customised Sport Chief RT for a high-profile charity auction set to coincide with the upcoming ‘Back to the Beginning’ show — the long-awaited, all-star event marking the first performance in over 20 years of the original Black Sabbath lineup: Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward.

Taking place on Saturday, 5 July, at Villa Park in Black Sabbath’s hometown of Birmingham, ‘Back to the Beginning’ will be a landmark celebration of the band’s groundbreaking legacy and their enduring influence on rock and metal music. Resolution Highlights National Impact of Outdoor Recreation

The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a resolution recognizing June 2025 as Great Outdoors Month, highlighting the economic, health, and community value of outdoor recreation. The resolution encourages Americans to enjoy the outdoors and notes the growing impact of the recreation economy.

Sponsored by Senator Steve Daines of Montana and co-sponsored by Senators John Hickenlooper of Colorado, Angus King of Maine, Roger Marshall of Kansas, Gary Peters of Michigan, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, Mark R. Warner of Virginia, Peter Welch of Vermont, and Ron Wyden of Oregon, the measure continues an annual tradition of celebrating outdoor spaces and recognizes job growth and community benefits tied to the sector.

In a recent release, the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable, which helped lead the efforts behind the resolution, noted that outdoor recreation contributes $1.2 trillion to the economy annually. The powersports industry accounts for nearly $51 billion of that total.

“Great Outdoors Month is a celebration of the places, people, and policies that make outdoor recreation possible for all Americans,” said ORR President Jessica Turner. “It’s about recognizing the profound value the outdoors brings to our economy, communities, and health – and recommitting to protecting and expanding access to those experiences and public lands and waters.”

CALIFORNIA NUTS–The LA Riots Aren’t Gavin Newsom’s Biggest Defeat—That’d Be the EV Mandate

Gov. Gavin Newsom’s doppelganger came and went very quickly.

If you missed it, that was the version of Newsom posturing as a moderate bravely willing to antagonize the extreme left of his own Democratic Party. This process began sometime in March when the Newsom imposter said during a podcast that it was “deeply unfair” for biological males to participate in female athletics. He also launched initiatives to clear up homeless encampments and clear up the streets in parts of California. Newsom even went so far as to propose a freeze on healthcare enrollments for illegal aliens.

Yes, the California governor is clearly gearing up for a 2028 presidential run that necessitates feigned policy pivots. But the problem now is that the real Gavin Newsom has suddenly reemerged. Some will say he pulled back his stand-in during the Los Angeles riots these past few days when he felt the reflexive need to apologize for lawlessness. In fact, the doppelganger was cut loose when U.S. Senate Republicans reasserted self-government in Washington D.C.

That moment came on May 22 when elected officials told unelected bureaucrats to go pound sand while overturning three vehicle emissions waivers the Biden administration granted to California. Senate Republicans made use of the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to revoke the waivers including one that would have enabled Newsom’s California to set a nationwide electric vehicle (EV) mandate. The CRA enables elected lawmakers to review and potentially overturn federal agency rules. On May 1, the House passed resolutions of disapproval under the CRA aimed at overturning the California waivers.

Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, the Republican majority leader, quickly made it clear that he would finish what his House colleagues started. The Senate vote against the EV mandate was 51–44, with Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan joining Republicans. The votes overturning the other two waivers were along party lines.

A little background:

In response to a request from three Senate Democrats, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) had issued a memo claiming the waivers did not meet definition of what qualifies as a rule that could activate the CRA. Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough chimed in with her own commentary backing up GAO’s opinion. Thune to his ever-lasting credit decided it was high time to reassert congressional authority over unelected bureaucrats out to do Newsom’s bidding.

Restoring Self-Government

Tom Pyle, president of the Institute for Energy Research, a free-market advocacy group, has described the CRA as a “great piece of legislation” that can be used to “rein in a runaway bureaucracy and restore constitutional checks and balances.” Newsom feels differently. Nothing brings out a genuine anti-constitutional left winger like a little self-government in action. Newsom went into meltdown mode after he was smacked down by the peoples’ elected representatives. In a press release, Newsom called the Senate’s actions illegal. He has also vowed to sue the Trump administration over—well, what exactly?

That’s the question Kenny Stein, IER’s vice president of policy, has been asking himself. But if Newsom persists in challenging how the CRA was used, Stein envisions a scenario where the California governor could open “a can of worms for himself” that boomerangs on the special favors California has been receiving.

“I have no idea what Newsom’s claim is going to be,” Stein said in an interview. “You can’t just sue because you don’t agree with a policy that’s not how the courts work, and that’s not the way our system works.”

But if Newsom persists, Stein sees a potential opening for the courts to scrutinize the constitutionality of the California waivers. Under the Clean Air Act (CAA), the EPA has the authority to create emissions standards for new motor vehicles. The agency also has latitude to grant California a special waiver to impose even more stringent standards for the purpose of addressing pollution problems that are localized and unique to that state. But since other states can adopt California’s stricter emissions standards, the waiver could have resulted in nationwide mandates compliments of Newsom. As it stands,  11 states have already been following California’s lead with vehicle regulations. If Senate Republicans had not been willing to make use of the CRA, Newsom would have been in position to ban the purchase of gas-powered vehicles across the country—beginning in 2035—in line with California standards. For the moment, the aspiring presidential contender in Sacramento has been held at bay. The Trump officially signed off on the resolutions revoking the EV mandates on June 12. But Stein is expecting another showdown at some point.

“The California waiver issue is clearly not going away because California keeps indicating they want to push the envelope and dictate motor vehicle standards to other states,” Stein said. “At some point, I think the U.S. Supreme Court is going to need to weigh in.”

In 2024, IER submitted an amicus brief in a case out of Ohio before the U.S. Supreme Court challenging the legality of a special waiver California received under the Obama administration.

In the brief, IER argues that the federal government must treat all states equally under the Constitution, a principle grounded in federalism and historical jurisprudence. Thus far, the high court has declined to take up IER’s constitutional questions and is instead focused on who might have standing in the case.

“What’s interesting here is that Newsom is doing the inverse of what we did with our amicus brief,” Stein observed. “We are saying all states need to be treated equally but Newsom is asking for preferential treatment with the waiver. He may be opening a can of worms for himself, because there’s a case to be made that the California waiver is itself unconstitutional.”

As a counterbalance to the California mischief, IER organized the Save Our Cars Coalition back in 2023, which now includes more than 40 national and state-based organizations committed to safeguarding American consumers’ freedom to choose the car or truck that perfectly suits their needs. The signature Trump just attached to the congressional resolutions nixing the Newsom mandates marks an important triumph for the IER coalition.

The Senate’s principled use of the CRA also has the added benefit of flushing out the real Newsom. If he wants those mandates, he’ll have to make it to the White House.

 Thought you’d appreciate the trumpets new configuration, 34 degree rake with 6 inches of trail, stock fork tubes with two inches up and out on the steering neck so she will be fun at low and high speeds. If you remember she came in the door all jacked up, over fifty degrees of rake, a little over eleven inches of trail and a lot of ground clearance in the front so no fun at any speed.

Those brutal Nitro Harley-Davidson dragbikes are coming back to disrupt the park-like serenity of Martin, Michigan’s US 131 Motorsports Park on June 27-29. The PennGrade1 AMRA series swings off the highway for the Michigan Nitro Nationals, with riders hanging off of their flame-throwing, ground-pounding beasts the FULL quarter mile. This one’s not for the faint of heart or those lacking courage.

Recent Ohio Circle M Ranch Top Fuel winner Jordan Peterson and Louisiana opening round winner Ryan Peery will lead the violent parade down US 131’s 1320, but a full slate of hungry contenders will be after their spoils—starting with their own teammates!

Finland’s Samu Kemppainen makes the long trip to wield one of the Chris Stewart Racing mounts tuned by Michigan Nitro Harley legends Mike and Jack Romine. Samu’s determination against Peterson carried him off the end of the track and completely out of the property last time out, and he will not be deterred in Michigan.

Peery’s teammate Buddy Johnson is still getting his Top Fuel feet back under him, but a winning effort is bound to happen and there’s no better trailer to run out of than Ryan’s.

The powerhouse Jay Turner Racing team would dispute that last statement, but they’re 0-2 so far in ’25. Riders Turner, Chris “Nashville” Smith, John “JT” Toth, and perhaps Randal Andras or Tii Tharpe will all race at 131.

Paul Anderson came from out of nowhere to hit the semis last time out, and he’s shown that he can advance further still with his “Road-Rage” mount.

Will Curtis “No-Bolts” Heisler make another launch into low-earth orbit? You won’t see it if you’re not there.

The Bad Apple Racing team is also a headline-making Nitro Harley powerhouse, but they’re focusing on Nitro Funnybike and Hawaya Racing Pro Fuel at Martin.

That’s good news for Cameron “Flash” Gunter, who might still be waiting to leave the starting line for the Ohio final. Bad Apple’s Tracy Kile will have Gunter set in Tasmanian Devil mode in Michigan and the bike dialed in to “Nuclear.”

But Ohio Funnybike winner Peterson (that’s right, he won twice) can expect to have an even stronger Romine Racing-prepared, Phil Lower-owned bike this weekend. “A modern day Funnybike should drop off the trailer and run 6.6 seconds and 200 mph,” says Jack Romine. “We have made some more changes and we are ready for Martin and see what happens.”

They’ll also face Universal Fleet and Tire’s “Racin’ Ray” Robinson—AKA “The Head Torcher!”

“Bad Apple Mary” Dangrow will have more of Kile’s attention this weekend as he works the tuning knobs to make her bike run even better and more consistent.

Two-time defending champion Sam White and his White Lightning Racing team have struggled to find the hallmark performance and consistency that has defined their effort. White is a determined man and this just might be his weekend—or that of rookie White Lightning rider Darren Brinkman.

Ohio was very nearly THE weekend for another nitro rookie—John Jenkins—who runnered-up to Dangrow in Ohio and will be inspired to place one spot better.

But they’ll all face a full field of the popular carbureted nitro bikes, including Universal Fleet and Tire’s Jason Leeper, Louisiana runner-up Kenneth “Stubby” Hultman, legendary Rocky Jackson, Jim “Bad Influence” Martin, Stewart Racing’s nitro rookie Brian Conley Jr., Walter “Half Again as Tall” Halonski, Al Balice, Louis Sansone and more.

Gasoline classes will heat up the track as well, including Pro Outlaw, Zipper’s Performance Pro Bagger, Thundermax Street Bagger, Zipper’s Performance Modified, Super Gas 9.90, Axtell Cylinders Hot Street, Top Eliminator 9.30 and Baker Drivetrain Eliminator Dial-in, BK Electric Super Pro 10.30, Pro Eliminator 10.90, and Thundermax Street Eliminator 11.50.

THAT’S NOT ALL–Wow, hardly know which way to turn. I quit drinking after my surgery, but tonight I’m going to kick back with a Jack on the Rocks.

It’s all wacky, but there’s the code of the west and the motorcycle mantra. I’ve published a few. Let’s take a stab at the mantra. I feel motorcycles are more about art, passion and freedom. You buy a vacuum cleaner to do a job and some folks, especially in India think about motorcycles under a functional light. But even in India Harley-Davidson is making a move, because there’s brothers who want to ride something special.

The guy on the right is Cary Brobeck the owner of Choppers magazine. He wants to partner with me and save Easyriders Magazine. It’s a tough one. It’s doable, but it will take all of us to step up up one way or another to help out. Also in the photo is me, Kim Peterson, the longtime editor of In The Wind Magazine, there’s a guy I don’t know, then Beatnik the longtime Art Director of Biker Magazine and now the Art Director of Choppers Magazine.

Here’s a very special motorcycle. The engine was raced in Bonneville twice as the 5-Ball Racing Bonne Belle. The engine, a 45 flathead with a K-model top end, purchased by Tom Seymour one of the bosses of Saddlemen. He slipped it into the Paughco shop where they built this beautiful puppy in a Paughco frame with a 4-speed, electric-start transmission.
