Baker Drivetrain

Hit the Baker Drivetrain ad to visit their website or scroll down to view all editorial ever published about Baker on Bikernet.

Bikernet is proud to have the best V-twin, transmission parts manufacturer in the world as a sponsor. We look forward to bringing you technical info on their line of products and how you can use them on your bikes. Here's a few words from Baker:

At BAKER Drivetrain, we specialize in drivetrain products for the American motorcycle aftermarket. We live and breathe this stuff and we are damn good at it. When you talk to someone in sales or consult us on technical issues, you will talk to someone with gear lube running through their veins. Most of us work 6 and 7 days a week. But we don't call it work around here; we call it fun!

If you contact us during normal business hours, you will talk to a knowledgeable, enthusiastic person and not a voice mail message promising a return call within 72 hours.

All BAKER Drivetrain components are made in America. We are proud of this fact. We believe that American motorcycles should have American drivetrain components; anything else is sacrilege.

BAKER Drivetrain maintains a very close relationship with Andrews Products; they manufacture gears and shafts to BAKER design specifications.

We have no relationship with JIMS. JIMS manufactures a 6-speed based on an early BAKER design under a licensing agreement that was initiated in 1999, but terminated in 2002.

We have no relationship with any of the Asia knock-off artist that copy our products and pollute our great country with inferior gears and shafts made from steel alloys that would be more appropriate for the manufacture of soup cans.

BAKER Drivetrain and BAKER Inc. are not associated with the Harley-Davidson Motor Company.

BAKER Drivetrain, BAKER Six-Speed Overdrive, and BAKER are registered trademarks of BAKER Inc., Haslett Michigan.

Angry White Roy’s Shovelhead

Rebuilt for the Long Road by the Devil

By Bandit with photos by the Devil and his elf Holly
The Devil sent me these shots of this super clean Paughco framed chopper, a classic example. It also contains a BDL primary system mated to a Baker 6-in-a-4-speed transmission with a tapered main-shaft, connected to a 93-inch S&S saved Shovelhead engine. I was intrigued.

The 5th Annual Biker Belles Ride for A Day was held during the Sturgis Rally on August 6th, and was a tremendous success. It really does not get any bigger than the Biker Belles Ride, each year they have doubled the number of women joining the ride, and raised more money than the year before.

Thunderstruck Custom Bike’s Overkill

Mark Daley won the 2012 Bikernet Editor’s Choice Award at the Vegas Artistry in Iron

By Bandit with photos by the Thunderstruck team
I met Mark Daley during my Easyriders years, at a show. He was obviously a very talented young builder with an artistic eye and amazing fabrication capabilities. It was a pleasure to run into him at the 2012 Las Vegas Bike Fest Artistry in Iron show. Times have changed and the dragon slayer-styled chopper doesn’t draw the attention it once did.

The Cinnamon Stick Classic Chopper from Jamie

A Self-Made Man Creates World-class Choppers and Survives the Recession

By Bandit with photos by George Najar
But a crucial change wafted over Jamie in 1995, like fairy dust over Snow White, or metal flakes over Arlen Ness, or pearl powder dust over John Kosmoski, the creator of House of Kolors. There comes a delicate crossroads in a man’s life, altering his mental direction forever, and his life becomes immersed in two wheels.

I suspect some are going to question why I would remove a reasonably new H-D automatic primary chain adjuster on my 2009 FLHTC and install a Baker job that must be manually adjusted.
