Hey,

This was a stressful week.
The debate was bullshit. As you will see in the news we are basically in a civil war. One party wants to destroy our country, the other party is bullied and sorta lost. When someone ask me why they do this or that, the answer is simple: They are trying to terminate the country. That justifies every nut-job effort to destroy our history, our schools, our borders, our finances, our industries, our energy sector, free speech, gun rights, media, travel, cities, kids, you name it.



Kamala can say anything because truth and integrity are gone. She just needs the power, doesn't matter how she gets it. She can promise you a cheap home, $6000, or bribe you with loan forgiveness, while the rest of us will be saddled with paying for our loans, their loans and their wars.



I have a very basic mantra for fighting this effort: I want kids to know they are living in the best of times, not the worst. We need to get to work.

TRIUMPH CELEBRATES-- 50th Anniversary of Evel Knievel’s Rocket Jump

Triumph Motorcycles joined the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Evel Knievel’s legendary Rocket Jump at Twin Falls, Idaho on Sunday 1 September. The day of festivities began with a motorcycle parade and featured live music from Krysten Knievel (Kaptain Robbie Knievel’s daughter) and The Knievel Daredevil Band.

Leading the motorcycle parade, Knievel’s son Kelly rode a custom-painted Bonneville T120, alongside stunt rider Robbie ‘Maddo’ Maddison, who rode a custom Rocket 3, in tribute to the one-of-a-kind Skycycle X-2 Rocket used in the original jump. Six-time gold medal X Games champion Colby Raha also chose a Triumph to ride in the parade, opting for a Speed 400.

The matching custom schemes were inspired by Evel’s original Bonneville T120-TT ‘Color Me Lucky’, which he used to perform his legendary 141-foot jump over the Caesar’s Palace fountains in Las Vegas on December 31st, 1967. Although the crash-landing crushed his pelvis and femur, fractured his hip, wrist, and both ankles, the stunt confirmed him as the ultimate daredevil. A Bonneville T120 was also used by Knievel to promote his Canyon flight in 1972, which he fitted with wings to capture everyone’s imagination.



Kelly Knievel said: “This bike is painted up just like ‘Color me Lucky’ the Triumph he used, it looks great! He always had a soft spot for his T120, said it flew ‘straight as a bullet’. Robbie’s riding a Triumph Rocket with the same custom paint scheme as this bike, which feels a very appropriate way to celebrate the anniversary.”

Triumph Motorcycles Chief Operating Officer Paul Stroud added: “This was an uplifting celebration of one of Evel Knievel’s best-known stunts, and Triumph is thrilled to support his family and fans by creating these one-off custom bikes to lead the parade. Following his jump at Caesar’s Palace on a T120 TT, Evel Knievel performed many stunts on Triumph motorcycles during the 60’s, securing his name in the hearts of generations of fans. It’s good to see the latest generation of the T120 bike that was used to first promote this notorious Snake Canyon jump, now being ridden by the next generation of the Knievel family.”



To promote the Grand Canyon jump, a prototype ‘jet powered’ Triumph Bonneville T120 fitted with wings, named the ‘Skycycle’, was shown to the press. Aeronautical engineer Doug Malewicki was then engaged to design and build a real ‘rocket-powered’ motorcycle to jump the Snake River Canyon. The Skycycle X-1 was based on a heavily-modified motorcycle chassis and powered by a steam engine built by former NASA engineer Robert Truax. After a test flight, which resulted in the X-1 crashing into the Snake River, the decision was made to remove the wheels entirely and instead take-off and fly more like a rocket than a motorcycle.

The final X-2 Rocket, with Knievel inside, launched at Snake River Canyon on September 8, 1974. During take-off, the drogue parachute deployed prematurely. Even though the X-2 made it part way across the canyon to the north rim, the drag of the prevailing winds caused it to drift back south, into the canyon, landing only a few feet clear of the water in which Evel would have surely drowned, strapped into the craft.

However, along with his jump at Caesars Palace, despite its ultimate failure, the Snake River Canyon rocket jump secured Evel’s reputation as the King of Stuntmen.

AMA NEWS-- As part of its commitment to further educate riders about sound levels, the American Motorcyclist Association will once again distribute sound test kits to four chartered clubs across the country. This year’s recipients of the annual AMA Sound Meter Program include the Coast Riders Motorcycle Club, Trail Riders of Southern Arizona, Coconino Trail Riders and Ocean State BMW Riders. With the sound kits provided by the program, these clubs will be able to accurately check the sound emissions of their motorcycles and institute training efforts to limit sound pollution at their events.

The AMA Sound Meter Program, started in 2005, has awarded more than 130 sound meters and helps riders and event organizers better understand acceptable sound levels according to AMA guidelines. The sound testing kits provided by the AMA contain a Type 2 sound meter, a tachometer, training materials, a spark-arrestor probe, personal protective equipment and a storage case.

In addition to the AMA Sound Meter Program, the AMA remains committed to supporting quieter motorcycle use and fighting against unfair sound ordinances. LOWBROW ACTION ON THE SALT--The first vehicle to qualify for a record at Bonneville World of Speed?

The Lowbrow Customs #901 dual-engine 1950 Triumph!

Our first run at Bonneville World of Speed 2024 achieved an average speed of 156.22084 mph across the first timed mile, qualifying against the existing A-VG 1350cc record of 151.175 mph!

The back-up run, which took place late that afternoon, was a bit slower due to tuning being off a bit, but still clinched the record.



The average of the two runs set the new record at 154.88 mph.

Our current goal is to break 160 mph on this bike, and increase the record speed. Over the winter we will dial in our tuning and prepare for the 2025 season, where we will reach this goal!

We had a great time racing, tuning, hanging out with some of our favorite people, and learning from some of the fastest racers on the planet.

ALL KIDS BIKE PROGRAM PROGRESS--Baltimore Orioles Pitcher Cole Irvin to Fund All Kids Bike Program to Empower Kindergarten Students at Walter P. Carter Elementary School

All Kids Bike, the national 501(c)(3) nonprofit teaching kindergarten students how to ride bikes in PE class, is activating their All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program in the Baltimore City Public School District, thanks to a generous donation from Baltimore Orioles Pitcher Cole Irvin.

The comprehensive program includes teacher training and certification, complete curriculum with lesson plans, games and activities, a fleet of 24 Strider balance-to-pedal bikes, pedal conversion kits, fully adjustable student helmets, an instructor bike with pedal conversion kit and helmet, two rolling storage racks, and access to a resource portal with live support for the life of the program. Walter P. Carter Elementary School celebrated the introduction of the program with a kickoff event alongside pitcher Cole Irvin, the Orioles Bird mascot, and All Kids Bike representatives, who had the opportunity to build the bikes for the program beforehand.

This is the second All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program that has been donated through Cole Irvin’s efforts. He stated, “I’m really excited we are able to give back to a city that has provided me such an amazing platform. We always pray for God to use us, wherever we are, and through All Kids Bike, we are able to make a direct impact in the lives of children. This is my thank you to Baltimore.

Last year with our first bike drop we were able to see the long standing impact a program like this can have on a community and planning for a second school has been just as rewarding. ?We hope to continue this effort and we are so thankful for Strider Bikes and their support through All Kids Bike. I know this program will bring them so much joy for years to come.”?

“Both baseball and learning to ride a bike teach kids important life skills such as perseverance, balance, and confidence,” said Lisa Weyer, Executive Director of the Strider Education Foundation. “With the support of Cole Irvin and the Baltimore Orioles, we are excited to bring the foundational experience of bike riding to more children, empowering them to lead active and healthy lives.”

At Walter P. Carter Elementary School, this program will positively impact approximately 45 kindergarten students each year by teaching them how to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class. With a lifespan of 7-10 years for the equipment, it is estimated that up to 450 students will benefit from this initiative over the next decade.

“Witnessing the joy on our students’ faces as they receive these?bicycles?is truly heartwarming,” said Joseph Eldridge, Principal of Walter P. Carter Elementary. “This generous donation from Cole Irvin and the Baltimore Orioles not only provides our?kids?with the means to explore and stay active, but it also reminds them that their dreams and goals are supported by their community.”

DIRECT FROM THE CENSORSHIP FILES--YouTube restricts teenage access to fitness videos

YouTube has decided to limit recommendations of certain types of health and fitness videos to audiences who are known to be teenagers. These include videos which "idealise" certain body types.

The popular video sharing and v-log platform says these will no longer be offered for teens when they view certain types of content, including:



1. videos that compare physical features and idealises some types over others

2. videos idealising specific fitness levels or body weights

3. videos displaying social aggression in the form of non-contact fights and intimidation

The announcement also says that 13 to 17-year-old users will continue to be able to search for and view fitness-related content - but they will not be encouraged into repeated viewing of similar videos.

PERFORMANCE FORGED WHEELS

LANE SPLITTING IN COLORADO LEGAL--Denver — On Aug. 7, Colorado officially legalized the practice of lane-filtering throughout the state — allowing riders to filter through stopped traffic at 15 miles per hour or less.

SB24-079 permits motorcycles to overtake or pass another motor vehicle if traffic is stopped in surrounding lanes. Colorado will join Utah, Montana and Arizona as states that permit lane-filtering, with Minnesota’s own lane-filtering bill is slated to take effect on July 1, 2025. Lane-splitting is also legal in California, allowing riders to move through slow-moving traffic in addition to stopped traffic, which differs from Colorado’s law which only permits motorcyclists to pass when the flow of traffic is stopped.

To legally filter, the road must have lanes wide enough to pass safely, the motorcyclist must maintain speeds of 15 miles per hour or less, and “conditions permit prudent operation of the motorcycle while overtaking or passing.” Motorcyclists must pass on the left of the vehicle in front of them. When the stopped vehicles begin to move, the motorcyclist must stop passing and merge back in line with traffic.

While lane-filtering is now permitted by law, with the guidelines previously mentioned, it must be done legally and safely to have its intended effect on the safety of riders in stopped traffic. Under the newly minted law, it is illegal to overtake or pass on the right shoulder, to the right of the vehicle in the farthest right-hand lane if the highway is not limited access or in a lane of traffic moving in the opposite direction.

The law will undergo a three-year period of safety data collection by the Colorado Department of Transportation. The CDOT will compare the number of motorcycle rear-end collisions, the severity of motorcycle rear-end collisions and the number of motorcycle side-swipe collisions while overtaking or passing at 15 miles per hour from before and after the effective date of the law.

Bandit, I hear your argument and agree we need to stand and fight. I agree with readers comments that Commifornia is hard to take, but most of us stay here because of family and/or memories of our growing up here. We want our state back and won't just sit down and hand it over to the morons, so we stay and fight. Would we love to pack up and head to South Dakota? Sure, you all make it a motorcycle heaven what's not to love? But we have kids growing up here that need to see us grow some nuts and stand up to these jerks trying to take away their / our freedoms. Maybe when the dust settles we can sit a spell in Deadwood, but for know the rally cry is get our state back.

You all can remember the California custom chopper and car scene back in 60's and 70's right? That's only 50 years ago folks. Some of our parents and grandparents blessed to making 95 years old we're only 45 back then for goodness sake. I am also in agreement that we don't like to get into politics unless it impacts our families and lives. So, I have to remember the part of President Lincoln's address when our nation was struggling with civil war back in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1863; "It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth". - Abraham Lincoln November 19, 1863
