QUICK ACTION NEEDED-- MRF Friends, Allies & Supporters-

If you’ve been following the news, you know there is currently a fight brewing in the Senate over the nomination for Administrator to the EPA. Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is the current nominee, but will face a tough confirmation by the U.S. Senate before he can assume his post.

Your MRF is closely following developments as it relates to this. As you know, we have always been fierce critics of the EPA and have never hesitated in raising our opposition to the Agency which has historically overstepped its authority and jurisdiction in several areas including, but not limited to, the Clean Air Act. So it’s not surprising that we have done extensive research on the likely incoming head of the Agency, Mr. Pruitt. In his position, he will have the authority to determine the direction of the Agency and serve as the top influencer in what priorities the EPA pursues over the next 4 years.

To his credit, Pruitt has been a thorn in the EPA’s side over the last several years, filing numerous lawsuits against the EPA in his position as Attorney General to the state of Oklahoma and also strongly criticizing many of the EPA’s efforts to address climate change. In addition, Attorney General Scott Pruitt, has been a vocal opponent of the Renewable Fuel Standard; the regulation that mandates ethanol into our nation’s gasoline supply. These types of activities and positions are encouraging as members of the motorcycle community.

It’s also important to point out, and may be a surprise to some, that Pruitt has also been an advocate for the motorcycle community since serving in the Oklahoma State Senate in the 90’s. I had a chance to speak with Charlie Williams with ABATE of Oklahoma who informed me that Mr. Pruitt has always been a friend to the rider community opposing a helmet bill which came before the state legislature and helping to champion a rider education bill. As such, Charlie and many others have been vocal about their support for Mr. Pruitt in his quest to serve as Administrator to the EPA.

To this end, if Scott Pruitt is someone you would like to support for EPA Administrator given his positive history with the motorcycle community, we have created a letter that you can send to your Senators expressing your support. It takes about 1 minute to complete and will be automatically sent on your behalf to your Senators. Time is of the essence; Mr. Pruitt will likely face his confirmation hearing next week, so we ask that you take immediate action if you would like to support him:

Killer "Spring Mounted" look!

Yes, that means a bit of the mechanics of the bike are exposed. You will notice the seat lines don't follow the strut, as if the seat were spring mounted.

Its minimal, slammed to the ground stance adds the finishing touch to these bitchin' bikes.

Mounts like stock. The seating area is 10.5" wide.

Swapping chrome for black and powered by the muscular Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine, the new Road King Special motorcycle pushes Harley-Davidson’s touring line in a dramatic new styling direction, expressing a contemporary perspective on the classic Road King model.

“The Road King Special pounds down the boulevard like a gleaming locomotive rolling through a train yard at midnight,” said Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Vice-President of Styling and Design. “The Road King has always reflected the purity of the Harley-Davidson FL riding experience. By exchanging chrome surfaces for black and lowering the bike’s profile, we’ve moved the traditional Road King into a new space that’s very current in the custom bagger scene.”

A dark front end topped by a massive gloss-black headlamp nacelle is the signature styling element of the Road King Special. A new 9-inch-tall, 1.25-inch-diameter mini-ape handlebar puts the rider in an aggressive posture on the bike that’s also comfortable for long runs on the open road.

“Chrome was retained only on some key engine components,” said Harley-Davidson Designer- Stylist Dais Nagao. “The lower rocker boxes, pushrod tubes and tappet blocks are finished with chrome to emphasize the V-Twin shape of the Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine. We added a new engine-turned air cleaner insert, a finish that’s also featured on the tank console.”

The Road King Special’s engine guard, handlebar and hand controls, mirrors, turn signals, engine covers, air cleaner cover, mufflers and exhaust shields also feature black surfaces. New gloss black turbine cast-aluminum wheels include a 19-inch front wheel topped by a low-profile fender.

At the rear, stretched saddlebags flow over the mufflers to provide a slammed-to-the-ground appearance without reducing suspension travel. A rear fascia panel fills the space between the saddlebags and rear fender, and a low-mount license plate module completes the tight, low lines of the rear end.

Comfort, control and performance are enhanced by the all-new front and rear suspension components featured on all 2017 Harley-Davidson Touring model motorcycles. New hand-adjustable emulsion-technology rear shock absorbers offer 15 percent more pre-load adjustment than previous low-profile touring shocks.

The front suspension features new double-bending valve suspension technology that delivers the damping performance of a racing-style cartridge fork with linear damping characteristics and reduced weight. Reflex linked brakes with ABS and the Harley-Davidson Smart Security System are standard equipment on the Road King Special.

Powered by the new Milwaukee-
Eight engine
New for all 2017 touring models, the Milwaukee-Eight engine offers quicker throttle response, more passing power, purer sound, a smoother ride and more of the feeling riders want from a Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle engine.

· More Power Each Milwaukee-
Eight engine produces 10 percent more torque than the engine it replaces in touring models. In addition to increased displacement, the Milwaukee-Eight engine features a higher compression ratio and four-valve cylinder heads with 50 percent more intake and exhaust flow capacity.

The valve train requires no adjustment as the design of the rocker arms enables valve lash to be set at the factory for life. Dual spark plugs for each cylinder contribute to more-efficient combustion. A single chain-driven camshaft is lighter, mechanically less complex and creates less friction and noise.

· Quicker Acceleration The Milwaukee-
Eight engine weighs the same as the engines it replaces, so its extra power contributes directly to improved acceleration performance. The Milwaukee-Eight 107 accelerates 11 percent quicker from 0-60 mph, equal to a two-to-three bike length improvement, and 11 percent quicker from 60-80 mph in top gear, equal to a one-to-two bike length improvement, compared to the Twin Cam High Output 103.

· Heat Management The Milwaukee-
Eight engine offers improved rider and passenger thermal comfort due to reduced heat absorption, increased heat rejection and a redesigned exhaust system. The Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine features a precision cooling strategy that targets a flow of oil around the hottest areas of the cylinder heads. A new knock sensor for each cylinder enables more-precise timing control. The rear exhaust pipe is repositioned and the exhaust catalyst is relocated to move heat away from the passenger. Idle speed is lowered from 1,000 rpm to 850 rpm.

· Improved Fit A new, slimmer primary drive cover and the low-
profile shape of the air cleaner cover provide improved rider legroom around the engine and an easier reach to the ground for many riders. All Milwaukee-Eight powered models are fitted with an assist and slip clutch with improved hydraulic actuation and 7 percent less clutch lever effort.

· Reduced Vibration The rubber-mounted Milwaukee-
Eight engine features a single internal counter balancer that cancels 75 percent of primary vibration at idle for a more refined feel and more comfortable experience for rider and passengers while retaining the classic character of Harley® V-Twin engines.

· Richer Exhaust Note Lighter
valves, a single camshaft, optimized cover designs and improved driveline components greatly reduce mechanical powertrain noise. The engine intake and air cleaner are designed to reduce intake sound while ensuring maximum air flow. As a result, the new Milwaukee-Eight engine is mechanically quieter, enabling a richer exhaust tone that meets all global noise and emissions standards while allowing the unmistakable rumble of its exhaust note to resonate.

· Improved Charging The Milwaukee-
Eight engine charging system delivers 50 percent more output to the battery at idle to better support the power demands of touring riders, including accessory lighting, performance audio, and heated gear and other accessories.

· New Engine Styling The Milwaukee-
Eight engine features sleek, modern styling that respects the heritage of previous Harley-Davidson big twin engines. The Road King Special is the first model to feature the Milwaukee-Eight in an all-black engine finish.

The Road King Special model is offered in four color options: Vivid Black, Charcoal Denim, Hot Rod Red Flake Hard Candy Custom, and Olive Gold.

So last week Branscombe contacted one of the inductees to the 2017 Las Vegas Motorcycle Hall of Fame. I was about to tell you the first name, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy.

Hang on for an official report from the staff of the Las Vegas Bikefest in the very near future.

Of all the projects Revival has undertaken, this was by far the most challenging design-wise. Not necessarily from a technical standpoint, as the original chassis and most of the electrics would remain, but from a purely aesthetic point of view.

The challenge lay simply in the fact that the Confederate Hellcat (and all Confederates for that matter) have a very distinct visual design ethos and it isn’t exactly an empty canvas that will easily accept changes.

Alan, our founder, obsessed over sketching out many simple drawings, images, shapes, cardboard bucks, and taped line drawings. The final winning design came from a combination of several inputs from the team, as always.

Built into Revival’s DNA is that team vision and execution is better than that of any one person, and there is no better example of that coming true than with this Confederate project. A cohesive design only came together for the project when the group chimed in.

From Russia With Love

It’s not every day you receive a tub full of vintage Indian engine components. Especially not from Russia!

Kiwi Mike explains: “We had been supplying our customer, Vasily, parts for a few months. Then he decided to ship his 1948 Chief engine parts (at least what he has) for us to work our magic. In his words, he wanted his engine rebuilt by ‘the Kiwi legend.’ Wow, it's exciting to share American quality around the world!”

That Kiwi “magic” involves a full engine rebuild, using proprietary Kiwi and original Indian parts to bring Vasily’s vintage Indian Chief roaring back to life. Then it’s back to Russia!

Don’t worry, we’ll ask Vasily to send pictures when the project is complete.

This article says a lot. When you look at H-D's chart from their investor website they show the growth of the demographic we need to survive, and what to they do? They killed Buell, killed V-Rod, and gave MV Agusta back to the Italians with a trust fund (which is now depleted and so they are out with their hat in hand again).

My scooter added to the chart may be our future? Shit..........

Let's drink whiskey, smoke cigars, ride and chase redheads (as you suggest!)

This section contains various articles, videos and links to websites that expose the business of "Climate Fear Mongering".

Yes, it is a business and they are making big bucks by keeping you scared. Back in the '60s they told us we were headed for another ice age but when temperatures started to climb it was "Global Warming".

Now as it looks like that bugaboo is not going to pan out, they are moving to "Climate Change". So now, no matter what happens their bases are covered--that is unless there is no change and they have find a new scare like "Climate Stagnation".

Yes, the climate does change. Sometimes there are warm periods and sometimes there are cooling periods. Does human activity cause it? Not likely. Can bad science be used convince the masses to follow their leaders to economic doom and submit to control and regulation thus increasing their wealth and power? Very likely!

Many of the regulations that threaten to destroy the California economy or regulate the way we live our lives are justified as compliance with AB32--now law in California. This law was passed by politicians who never miss an opportunity to expand government control and used the fear of global warming, now climate change, to justify their power grab.

"Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will pledge with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenarios, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by their world government."

--Henry Kissinger in an address to the Bilderberg organization meeting at Evian, France, May 21, 1992. Transcribed from a tape recording made by one of the Swiss delegates.

Sorry, I did not even wipe it off, it has been sitting in the back of my garage for the past 7 years.

I start it 3 or 4 times per year and occasionally take it around the block, otherwise as you can see, 120.9 miles.

After running the bike I shut off the fuel and run the carb dry, also there is Sea Foam stabilizer in the tank to keep the gas from going bad.

The bike is original down to the oil in the motor except the battery was changed twice. The windshield and engine bars are H-D parts and there is a short back rest that locks on with a couple of levers, (also HD, not shown).

I see them on the internet for $10,900 with 30K miles to $14,000 with 4K miles. I realize that asking and getting are two different things, but would like to get a fair price for the bike. What are you thinking?

No. 2268 5-speed Main Case Seal Installer Tool.

JIMS No. 2268 5-speed Main Case Seal Installer Tool simplifies seal installation on Harley-Davidson 5-speed transmissions.

Let’s face it, most mechanics don’t have a socket big enough to fit the large diameter of the main drive bearing seal. This leads to the use of wood blocks or tapping on the seal with a hammer, and that rarely turns out good.

JIMS No. 2268 Seal Driver fits the seal perfectly, centers on the main drive gear, and allows the mainshaft to pass through it, so no major disassembly is required.

All it takes is a few taps with a hammer and the seal is installed to the perfect depth for a leak free install every time.

Made in the USA and featuring JIMS® lifetime tool warranty, JIMS No. 2268 retails for $68.35. Use on 1985-2006 Big Twin 5-speed and aftermarket 6-speed transmissions.

Not for 2006 Dyna.

Jim Ellis Customers Raise $65K for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta

Jim Ellis Automotive Group announces charity campaign total of $65,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta to give kids in need the gift of a great future.

This holiday season, the Jim Ellis Automotive Group found a new opportunity for giving back to the community, to the tune of $65,000, through partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. Thanks to the support of old and new customers alike, this surpassed the original donation goal for the campaign by $15,000. The official check presentation was held on January 31 at the A. Worley Brown Boys & Girls Club in Norcross.

“Many of the youth we serve face big challenges. They don’t have access to the resources and relationships they need to excel,” said Missy Dugan, president & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. “We are so grateful to partners like Jim Ellis who believe in our kids and invest in their future potential. We know with the right resources and support, these kids and teens will become the next leaders in our community.”

All 13 Jim Ellis family-owned and operated dealerships participated in this holiday giving campaign. A portion of every new or pre-owned vehicle purchase that occurred at one of our Jim Ellis dealerships between November 25, 2016 and January 2, 2017 was set aside to go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta.

For more than 75 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta has been helping kids and teens and have positively influenced more than 100,000 young lives. The organization started with one Club on Washington Street in 1938, and has grown to dozens of locations in and around Atlanta, serving thousands of kids each day. Through the support of others, the Atlanta area clubs are able to provide innovative programs that help kids succeed in school, living healthy lives, and cultivate an attitude of giving back.

That is a nice looking Softail springer. But seven years of occasional starts or a ride around the block has done nothing good for the engine oil and therefore the engine itself. The tires will need to be replaced and the carb will probably need to be cleaned at the very least. Other hoses , lines and rubber parts may need attention as well. Like new is not new...just saying. Is this a heritage softail springer classic? No year listed .1997?
