Are we living through some strange times or what?
This is one of those tests and we won’t know the answers until it’s over.

It’s sorta like a final at the Bikernet medical school. You could check Covid Measures too reactionary and costly and be wrong or visa versa. Let’s just hope at the end of the flu season, we can laugh and say it wasn’t a big deal.

Check this: Today Harley in Milwaukee announced they are temporally closing for the Corona virus. They will be closing all US operations. 2000 workers will be affected until at least the end of the month and possibly longer.

Later boss, be safe...

--David Campbell

Bikernet isn’t shutting down or curbing operations. We just shoot anyone who is sick and comes around and carefully bury them in a shallow grave out back.

I’m working around the clock with a couple of contractors in Deadwood to dial in the Badlands Bikernet headquarters for the rally. Sin Wu and the Redhead are approving the Chinese whorehouse décor.

VIRUS ALERT: Some 80 Percent of folks who catch the Corona Virus will feel little or no symptoms.--MGA News

Dr. Hamster and Mike Stevenson delivered the Doctor’s Panhead project back to the headquarters, and I will start the finishing touches on it tomorrow to get the sheet metal to Deny for paint and prep this bike for the trip to Deadwood and the rally.

Let’s get to the news and at the end I’ll attempt to explain the other items on the Bikernet To-Do list for this year. Hang On!

The Bikernet Weekly News is sponsored in part by companies who also dig Freedom including: Cycle Source Magazine, the MRF, Las Vegas Bikefest, Iron Trader News, ChopperTown, and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum. Most recently Quick Throttle Magazine came on board.

LATEST COVID NEWS--Malaria drug sees promising signs as future coronavirus treatment

by Tim Pearce, Washington Examiner

A drug originally developed to treat malaria is showing signs that it may also cure infections of the coronavirus, though much more testing is needed.

Researchers and virologists in France have completed a clinical trial studying the effects of hydroxychloroquine, used to treat arthritis, malaria, and other ailments, on patients with COVID-19. Researchers treated a total of 26 coronavirus patients with the drug, including six that were given the antibiotic azithromycin, as well.

The researchers released their findings in a study published on Wednesday. The results showed that all six patients treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin tested negative for the virus after six days. Of the 20 treated with just hydroxychloroquine, 57.1% tested negative for the coronavirus after six days. Just 12.5% of the control group made up of 16 other patients tested negative.

"Despite its small sample size our survey shows that hydroxychloroquine treatment is significantly associated with viral load reduction/disappearance in COVID-19 patients and its effect is reinforced by azithromycin," the study said.

Didier Raoult, an infectious disease expert from l’Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire in Marseille, led the research team that conducted the study. Gregory Rigano, an adviser to the Stanford University School of Medicine SPARK Translational Research Program, is leading a program based on Raoult’s results to study the effects of hydroxychloroquine on treating COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Anthony Fauci is the leading expert in the United States on infectious diseases and has downplayed the existence of a cure and has said that many drugs are currently being tested that may lessen the severity of the coronavirus. The best medical tool doctors can hope for is a vaccine, which Fauci said is about a year to 18 months away from completion.

Rigano touted the results of the study on Fox News’s Tucker Carlson Tonight on Wednesday, claiming that hydroxychloroquine used with azithromycin is the second 100% cure for a virus ever found. Rigano also called on President Trump to "authorize the use of hydroxychloroquine against coronavirus immediately."

BIKERNET BANDANA AND THE CORONA VIRUS—The Redhead needed to run some quick errands. She used our official custom Bikernet Bandana to prevent touching door handles and objects throughout her visits.

When she got home, she threw it into the wash. No sweat. A brother wore one for a disease prevention mask. The Redhead pointed out that brothers in the past always carried bandanas or handkerchiefs. The ladies always carried hankies. Bandit always carries his bandana and the Redhead will do the same, from now on.

LIQUI MOLY defies corona: a bonus for every employee instead of short-time work

Managing Director Ernst Prost thanks the workforce for their commitment and expresses confidence

March 2020 – Special times call for special measures. The German oil and additive specialist LIQUI MOLY is not reacting to the corona crisis with short-time work or layoffs, but is instead paying a bonus of EUR 1,000 to each employee. With this ‘corona consolation’, Managing Director Ernst Prost is thanking all employees for their dedication.

LIQUI MOLY now has almost its entire administration working from home. This move is intended to protect every single employee while keeping production running. The staff accomplished this collective move to home office mode with great commitment and improvisation.

“Today, we have largely been able to ensure in all corporate areas that we are mastering this balancing act between preventive health care and continued work,” Ernst Prost wrote to the workforce. “Now, I can imagine that the current circumstances are not only time-consuming for you, but also involve additional financial expenditure. As a token of our appreciation, allow me to give you an extra EUR 1000 gross with your next salary payment – to a certain extent, as a financial corona consolation!”

While other companies are having to deal with short-time work or are considering making cuts, the LIQUI MOLY boss is setting a counterpoint. “The current developments are not leaving us unaffected either; the economic consequences will be brutal. That is precisely why we must now do our part to solve this crisis with our brains and wits, with commitment and diligence, and definitely with courage and confidence.”

All employees worldwide are receiving the same amount for this bonus – the department manager in Germany as well as the warehouse clerk in South Africa. “In most parts of the world, the economic consequences are more severe, because the social network there is less robust or completely absent,” says Ernst Prost. With his gesture, he wishes to set an example for the LIQUI MOLY family worldwide and also make money available that people may need urgently. “Besides, spending money on the economy is exactly what we need right now to keep jobs.”

Ernst Prost is pleased about the team spirit within the company: “It is very gratifying to see how we come closer together in such a situation, do our work unwaveringly and pull together in solidarity.

DIRECT FROM THE WHITEHOUSE--Together, America will prevail

“I want all Americans to understand,” President Trump wrote on Twitter this afternoon. “We are at war with an invisible enemy, but that enemy is no match for the spirit and resolve of the American people.”

He’s right. Thanks to the dedication of our doctors, nurses, and scientists—as well as the love, patriotism, and determination of our citizens—no country is better prepared to meet this challenge than America. No nation on Earth will emerge stronger and more united than ours.

The Federal Government is leaving no stone unturned in its unprecedented response. Today, the President announced more groundbreaking steps to slow the spread of the virus and help every American community brave the storm:
The Defense Department will massively expand medical resources, making 5 million respirator masks and 2,000 ventilators available for use

FEMA is now activated in every region of the country and at the highest level

The Department of Housing & Urban Development will be suspending foreclosures and evictions until the end of April

Health & Human Services will also suspend foreclosures and evictions

Navy hospital ships are being deployed to impacted areas

America and Canada will halt all non-essential travel across their border

President Trump held a phone meeting today with 130 CEOs to hear directly what they need to respond to this crisis. Defeating this virus will take a historic partnership between our public and private sectors. The Trump Administration is leading that charge.

History has shown that our nation always rises to the occasion when staring down uncertain and trying times. The American people are proving that once again now—and the President couldn’t be prouder, Vice President Mike Pence wrote in USA Today.

“In the weeks ahead, President Trump and this administration will continue to take strong action to protect the American people, and we will continue to build on the partnerships that we’ve forged with state and local governments, as well as with the scientific and business communities,” he said.

“But for all of these important steps, there is no substitute for the action of the American people.”
