How can I Afford the Bike of My Dreams? We asked that question at an editorial meeting recently. Most bikes are describe by their heavy stick prices today. That’s a $50,000 bike or $23,000 or even $250,000 when it comes to Jesse James or Matt Hotch. So we decided to figure out how us poor saps can affords a stylish custom. Maxwell Smart took care of the initial investigation with Saxon motorcycles as the Ginny pig.--Bandit If you are like me, you have always wanted to have an American V-Twin, but couldn’t afford to pay for it outright. Who really has $74K lying around. Even though I would be saving on gas, it would be hard to justify to the old lady that I needed our retirement nest egg to get a cool bike. Consumer financing allows thousands of people to own motorcycles who would rather spend some and invest some. It’s the American way right?
Since I bought my first bike, I haven’t paid cash outright for any of them. With the variety of custom manufacturers out there, you can buy a bike that isn’t mainstream and easily get it insured, registered and financed. If you think about it, ten years ago there weren’t too many options other than a factory bikes. Now the selection is wide open and so is the financing. Now, there are thousands of custom manufacturers out there, most of which have their own financing. Saxon Motorcycles is one of those companies who has hooked up with GE Consumer Finance and in only their second year they can offer rates as low as 4.99% to qualified buyers and financed up to 108 months. This drops the monthly payments and makes it affordable for everyone. I spoke with Amy Sherk owner of High Performance Custom Cycles in Reno, NV and she gave me a few scenarios. All of these scenarios are generally contingent on the buyer having at least a 625 credit score.
Buyer #1 Saxon Sceptre MSRP $22,595
Buyer #2 Saxon Griffin (shown above) MSRP $25,995
These are just two examples of the vast array of manufactured custom motorcycles available for anyone who has a good credit score. If you have the itch to own a sharp new custom bike, financing is now available to make it happen. So go get your face in the wind. You can locate a Saxon Dealer by going to www.saxonmotorcycles.com or if you are in the Reno area you can call Amy at High Performance Custom Cycles at 775-828-0404
