MILWAUKEE (July 9, 2007) – The bold new FXDF Dyna Fat Bob leads the 2008 line of Dyna performance factory customs from Harley-Davidson. Unmistakable behind dual headlamps and rolling on chunky, aggressive tires, the Fat Bob takes Dyna styling in a bold new direction. Other Dyna news for 2008 includes braided stainless steel brake lines as standard equipment on all models, and the availability of three Dyna models with a Limited Edition 105th Anniversary package of special paint, badges and serialization. The Harley-Davidson Dyna family stays faithful to the formula established by the early factory customs produced by the Motor Company in the 1970s, bikes that combined Big Twin power with the style of the lighter FX front end. Over the years, the Dyna line has established a reputation for great handling and exhilarating performance. All Dyna models are powered by a 1584 cc Twin Cam 96 powertrain with Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) mated to the 6-Speed Cruise Drive transmission. In the Dyna platform, the Twin Cam 96 pounds out 91 ft. lbs. of torque at 3000 rpm. Shared Dyna characteristics include the under-seat battery box, exposed rear shock absorbers, and a classic Fat Bob fuel tank with console.
New on Dyna for 2008 • Braided Brake Lines: Braided stainless steel brake lines enhance both the style and brake feel on all 2008 Dyna models. • A limited-edition, serialized 105th Anniversary FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide, FXDC Dyna Super Glide Custom, 105th Anniversary Edition and FXDL Dyna Low Rider will be available in 2008. (See separate release for details on the 105th Anniversary package).
New FXDF Dyna Fat Bob With dual headlamps blazing and chunky tires rolling out a distinctive footprint, the new Harley-Davidson FXDF Dyna Fat Bob aims to occupy a wide patch of pavement. Named for the iconic fuel tank shape that has defined a generation of massive Harley-Davidson factory customs, the Fat Bob combines signature Dyna performance with a new profile that communicates cool authority.
The dual four-inch headlamps, framed by 49 mm forks and new polished aluminum triple-clamps, are the most obvious indication that the Fat Bob is a new breed of Dyna. But it’s a big 130 mm front tire on a 16-inch by 3.5-inch slotted cast aluminum wheel that really leads the way. A new, aggressive tread design exaggerates the tire’s chubby profile. Black painted fork lowers highlight the silver wheels and dual disc brakes, and match black risers holding a V-shaped drag bar. This is a front end that makes a bold statement. The Fat Bob is powered by a Twin Cam 96 engine that pounds out 92 ft. lbs. of torque through a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission. The black-and-polished Twin Cam 96 powertrain breathes through a distinctive new airbox cover and exhales through the wild new Tommy Gun exhaust system, a 2-1-2 configuration that snakes the rear pipe forward and around the engine timing cover to merge with the front pipe. The pipes then split and dump into staggered dual mufflers. A slotted exhaust shield gives the system its name. Above the engine resides the famous 5.1-gallon Fat Bob fuel tank adorned with a new medallion and chrome, low profile fuel tank console. The Fat Bob can be ordered from the factory with a choice of forward foot controls or mid-mount foot controls, to suit rider preference or stature. A new two-up seat shape combined with the drag bars to put the rider in a position that’s nonchalant cool. Seat height is just 26.1 inches.
A beefy 180 mm rear tire with an aggressive tread pattern wraps a 16-inch by five-inch slotted aluminum rear wheel, a combination that gives the Fat Bob a substantial rear profile but also preserves the great handling qualities of the Dyna chassis. A new wide Bobtail fender covers the rear tire, and the rear shock absorber springs are concealed with chrome “full metal jacket” covers. The Fat Bob is available in seven solid-color paint options, including three low-gloss Denim paint selections.
FXDF Dyna Fat Bob features:
FXDB Dyna Street Bob A modern interpretation of the post-World War II “bobber” movement, the FXDB Dyna Street Bob appeals to the minimalist. A solo saddle, mini ape-hanger bars, and laced wheels speak to classic style. Wrinkle-black details add tough texture. FXDB Street Bob features:
FXD Dyna Super Glide The Dyna in its purest form, the FXD Dyna Super Glide plants Twin Cam 96 power under a solo seat in an agile Dyna chassis. It’s all the motorcycle a rider could want. But this most-affordable Harley-Davidson Big Twin model also presents the ideal starting point for creative customization. FXD Dyna Super Glide features:
FXDC Dyna Super Glide Custom Laced wheels, two-up seat and more chrome distinguish the FXDC Dyna Super Glide Custom. The speedometer is mounted on a chrome console atop the 5.1-gallon Fat Bob tank. This is Super Glide performance with a little extra flash and function. FXDC Super Glide Custom features:
FXDL Dyna Low Rider The 25.8-inch seat height of the FXDL Dyna Low Rider is among the lowest in the Harley-Davidson line. Lower rear shocks, pull-back handlebar riser, mid-mount foot controls, raked-out fork and standard highway pegs contribute to its long-range comfort. FXDL Dyna Low Rider features:
105th Anniversary FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide Available only as a Limited Edition 105th Anniversary model in 2008, the FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide displays the classic chopper profile, with a Bobtail rear fender and wide, raked-out, 36-degree forks holding a 21-inch Chrome Laced wheel. Fat mini-ape hanger handlebar and a stepped seat complete the theme. A two-tone paint scheme in Anniversary Copper and Vivid Black is traced with orange and pale gold pin striping. A copper Bar and Shield tank cloisonné and 105th Anniversary badges adorn the air cleaner and timing cover inserts. 105th Anniversary FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide features:
