"I've been a Bikernet subscriber for a bit and Bandit has been nothing short of fantastic with every request I've ever made. I'm sure this will carry over into this segment as well.

Enough apple polishing. So here's the question...My friend has a 2005 Yamaha V-Star 1100, bone stock, has no performance goals, just wants some inexpensive sound enhancement.

Vstar
V-Star 1100 Custom, Bone Stock

He's been guided towards Cobra slip-ons. With Harleys I usually suggest air cleaner upgrades and tuning with every exhaust modification. Can he get away with just throwing a set of bolt up slip-ons without air cleaner modification or a power commander?

He doesn't mind any power loss, he just wants to avoid any damage or running conditions. Would love some guidance since I know less than shit about metric machines. All I know is my first bike was a Kaw that never died. Now I just scoot Harleys.

Thanks for the hand,

Joel Mercado"

Hey Joel,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, just got up and running at this email address.

As a general rule of thumb, slip-ons don't require re-jetting or modifications to your fuel-air mixture. Since he has a V-Star 1100 he's not fuel injected so the Power Commander wouldn't apply anyway.

Hope this is helpful,

-Thunder Bob
