There was a time when all you'd ever hear was, "how can I make my pipes sound as loud as possible?" I guess Dylan was right, the times they are a changin'.
It's not so much that some bikers actually want to go back to "stock quiet" as it is the search for a happy medium. Many driving factors have come into play that have lead to the unthinkable desire to reduce the sound on a set of aftermarket exhaust systems:
He'd already installed a set of their Hard Kore Quiet baffles in Greg's Hard Krome pipes and Greg, an MT Staffer, was very happy with the results. Chris offered to install a set of Hard Kores in one of our shop bikes, a 2004 Vulcan 2000 with Hard Krome 3" Big Straights. I figured, nothing ventured, nothing gained. The new baffles were literally installed in minutes without having to remove my existing HK baffles.
Quiet Kore 3" Baffles installed in minutes Once the baffles were installed, I took that big ole V2K out for a 30 minute, RPM rev limiter test ride! Man was I surprised with the results...quiet at idle, but they really wake up as you get on the throttle. The sound was deeper and throatier than before and performance was unchanged. Didn't have to make any adjustments to our Power Commander either. Currently available through Metric Thunder, click on, Hard Kore Quiet Baffles, for more information. Made in the USA.
