Race Off - Race On By Digital ![]()
If you ever have plans to do any work on a primary, change out a transmission, or remove an enclosed primary to put on a new open belt drive system, you'll want one of these. This simple yet effective tool, is used to remove the main bearing race that lies between the mainshaft of your big twin transmission, and the inner primary bearing. If you are ever replacing a primary case or putting in a new transmission you will need to remove and replace this piece of hardware. And since it's press fit onto the shaft, don't think you'll just muscle it on or off. REMOVAL
This tool is actually 2 tools in one. The first is the tool that removes the race. The procedure is pretty simple. Pre-assemble the 5 pieces you see in the photo above. The collar on the right side of the photo slips behind the race, and the end sits against the end of the shaft.
Set the tool up on the end of the transmission as shown above with the collar behind the race.
You'll want a set of crecent wrenches for the removal. Torque the wrench closest to you in the
clockwise direction while restraining the pull-block with the other wrench. It pulls right off.
No hassle, no busted knuckles.
