Attorney Mike Hupy Fights For Outlaw Rights
The Outlaws Milwaukee Motorcycle Club hired Attorney Michael Hupy to represent them in a First Amendment violation case in which some members were arrested after refusing to leave the Summerfest grounds during a summer musical festival.
Several months later, another member of the club was fired from his place of employment because Milwaukee police officers demanded that the owner release him and not even allow him on the premises.
This pattern of police intimidation and harassment is evident all across the country, although police deny any such behavior exists. Members of various motorcycle clubs have been systematically denied access to or removed from public events, such as county fairs and music festivals, not because of any trouble they caused but solely because they refused to remove their motorcycle club insignia.
On December 12, 2003, Attorney Hupy wrote a letter to the Mayor of Milwaukee and the Chief of Police, condemning the illegal activities of some members of the police department. You can read the letter in Thursday's news.
Good work, Mike.
