The Rookie Improved On The Wire Too By Frank

clip
I started with this clip for the magnet.

Hey bandit here are the shots of the jig I made, and a short tech article. Feel free to add, take away, whatever. Sorry it took so long but my grandfather has been in and out of the hospital with Alzheimer's and heart disease so we have been trying to spend, as much time with him as we can. Then work has been insane and the holidays, so you know the drill.

drill
Here it is all drilled apart

After seeing the famous Frank Kaisler wire jig on Bikernet.com, I had to have one of my own. So with that in mind I made one. Used it quite regularly and saw only one flaw. I had to prop it up to keep the job off the work bench.

bung
I made a bung to hold all the elements together.

I used a piece of aluminum, turned it down, and faced it. I forget the bolt diameter used, but all I did was turned the head so that it would set inside the base of the magnet and not scratch paint. I stuck the bolt through the magnet, and sleeve then cross drilled them for the wire.

Here are all the pieces assembled

This is my solution, anybody can do it, and it works like a charm. Stick it to the bench or anything magnetic and solder away.

final
The alligator clips soldered on and it works like a charm.
