2001 Bikernet SuperBowl Bash (Continued)
Bikernet Celebrates Rockin' Blues, sloshing booze, poorly-played pool, a mildly distracting Super Bowl.

Special Agent Zebra - Natural Born Killer....

Again the laundry was boarded up, and downtown Long Beach became a dark and desolate ghost town of concrete and blockbuildings.

Singapore Slim - Fresh off the boat. We'd like to thank the U.S. Navy for allowing him out of the brig long enough to catch the game with us.

The Sailors partied in the seaside Pike Amusement park area, got tattoos and wandered between the rides looking for women and whiskey. The art deco building facing a narrow alley in the dank and desolate downtown area sat boarded up while Mrs. Wu and Mr.Jordan hid their wealth in a cave on Catalina Island 26 miles off the coast of Los Angeles. Long Beach became a town where the losers and broken hearts from Los Angeles migrated.

The Hamsters Typically Don't Miss a Party

Folks with the blues, broken marriages, broken hearts and broken bank accounts drifted to the broad beaches of Long Beach to revive their sense of humanity. It became the home of the blues, and when Vince came along and was willed the immense building by his dying grandfather, he knew what his mission was, and created the Blue Cafe devoted to putting the song back into the hearts of lowriders, bikers and the downtrodden that roam the back streets of Long Beach hoping to get lucky, get healed and get back on track.

Party Manimal

The Blue Cafe', a perfect location for the annual Bikernet Super Bowl Bash, the home of the blues in Long Beach. Vince has an arrangement with the Long Beach Police to allow full motorcycle parking directly in front of the Cafe's patio on the Promenade. So as we pulled up on the Blacked Out Buell and Touring Chopper, we were in a line-of-sight proximity to the bikes at all times. On the Patio was a group already setting up to kick off the blues mood as early as noon. Inside another stage waited for James Inveld to warm the evening in front of a broad polished wood dance floor, adjacent to the long brick backed bar.

Brad thePhilosopher asks the age old question..... Booze & Chicks.... What else is there?

Across the dance floor is a series of tall tables for chowing down and in back is a full kitchen. Cute waitresses motor back and forth with menus and drink trays. One such waitress made a lusty impression on Bandit one afternoon and she's been a favorite ever since. Just after noon Sin scurried around the upstairs pool tables setting up for the party, then she ducked downstairs and mingled with the crowd so Layla wouldn't see her. The upstairs houses nine full regulation sized pool tables and a full bar. In front and off to the right is a smaller more intimate room called the Blue Room which became the party headquarters. It contains three immaculate regulation tables, televisions mounted in the corner and a separate long dining room with 15 tables and a small private stage. One other small alcove allowed for the crew to set up a buffet table with chips and salsa, sandwiches and hot wings. By 1:30 in the afternoon people were rolling in, grabbing some chow and chewing the fat to the music rumbling up from the patio.
