There was even a section reserved for HDs 1903-69 only. Billy Lane's Knuckle
Sandwich crouched like a tiger in that lineup. Two other Choppers Inc
scoots, the Ford Pan and the Lil Blue Suicide Machine sat among a bunch of
beautiful vintage bikes.
But the majority of bikes were homebuilt rigids, each one so unbelievably
unique. Kinda made me want to cruise swap meets, looking for "treasures."
My favorite paint job there had no paint on it. Someone had ground a neat
vertical grain on the sheet metal, then clear coated over it. The effect of
nighttime light reflecting off this grain was slick.
The front porch of Will's was packed full where Geno, the magazine's design
director, and his wife, were giving out copies of the latest issue of the
Horse, along with t-shirts and stickers. Will's, formerly the Squeeze Inn
Pub, is perfect for a party. Venders were set up around a big tent area
surrounded by huge oaks dripping with moss. Outdoors you could get drinks,
killer Cajun food, check out bikes, and listen to a band playing on an
outdoor stage.
