Some 60,000 bikes; 100,000 bikers. Alot of'em never heard the song
runnin'in my head. I rode over tha Santa Cruz mountains from tha
Coast to South San Jose onto Monterey Road; tha' Ol' Highway 101.
That was tha song; "The Terror of Highway 101".
"He wore black
denim trousers & motorcycle boots...", yah ta hey! Played that 78
on'a hand-crank recorder from WWII my uncle gave me. My uncles were
just like the men back from "The War" who rode with Wino Willie &
the other gangs into Hollister 1947.
This is'a "Retro Run". Ol'school for-real gang patches &
rollin'mobs of bikers ridin' in together. No race; it's a PARTY!
Street events put on by the TopHattersMC; homeboys that go back to
ol'daze. Off street/backyard partys for ol' mobs.
Fireworks in the sky for 4th of July & kids on every block firin'up the driveway as
ya ride pass. People just set-up chairs & parkin' in front of their
homes.
Yes, it brings in much needed money. And the Down Town
Bikers see that it goes to the youth groups. Hey, like Wino Willie
said, "Ya know ya won tha war, when ya see the kids smile." Works
for me.
This thing just keeps-on-keeping-on. No big money race
event, just folks ridin' together; sort'a like in tha ol'daze. Like
years ago, when I told the famous "Wino Willie", original Boss of
the Boozefighters MC, "I ain't here for tha races; I'm just here
for tha party"
Ride On! Wino Joe,USA
