It was a beautiful day in the Great Northwest for the July 1 Children's Ride.
This is an annual event for which all the proceeds benefit the uncompensated care program at
Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center, which provides quality
care to all children of the Northwest regardless of their families' ability to pay.
Children's serves the four-state region of Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho.
This year alone, Children's will provide over $26 million dollars in uncompensated care.
1800 riders showed up at Lake Samammish State Park (about 15 Miles East of Seattle on I-90)
to make the 30+ mile leg up to Seattle International Raceway where we were off to catch
all the action of the AHDRA Northwest Nationals.
When we arrived, the first order of business was to check things out. We ran into a couple
of friends while we were there, one of which was Chris Hanks, owner of the 'Steam Roller'.
You can catch his bike feature here in the bike barn.
We also made a couple of new friends in the park. This gentleman has had this vintage Indian
bike in his family for nearly 50 years. His father was the original owner, and it's been taken apart
and re-assembled in some form or fashion for a number of years. We're hoping to bring you
the full story on this machine very soon.
