Sometime last September the 20 year old Japanese cruiser I was riding broke down in what I was told was an unreperable state. I started looking around for a new bike right away. I knew I wanted a real bike (American) and I knew I wanted something to fit me more comfortably (I'm 6'7" and 325lbs). I looked over the used bikes at Eastside Harley in Bellevue, and looked at a new Big Dog at Downtown Harley, but nothing really fit me the way I thought it should. I saw an ad in Cycle Trader for a used custom at a local BMW shop in Kirkland, but when I arrived, the bike had been sold to somebody else. The shop owner suggested I go down the street a couple blocks to a new place called CyclPath. Not even five minutes later I was standing in the back with Jeff Carney the owner discussing what I was after. He showed me some custom bikes he was selling on consignment and quickly realized that to get the right fit for me, we needed to start from scratch.
A rigid frame was ordered with 5 extra inches in the backbone and Jeff found a new 80" plant from Milwaukee with a stock carb. Power is transferred with a 3" open belt primary and a chain to the back wheel. Solid wheels were decided on for front and rear, but we wanted a radical Metzeler 200 wrapping both front and rear wheels.
The trees were made locally from solid billet, and they came out 2 inches wider than a stock wide glide set. (Rumor has it Jeff has more of these trees.) For sheet metal we chose Trojans and modified them to taste. The gas tank is a 7 gallon fat bob from CCI that Jeff welded and stretched. On to Page 2.... Back to the
