Have you ever experienced that heart-in-throat moment when faced with crossing a steel grated bridge. To top it all off it's raining and dark. For most motorcyclists this is the moment of truth when you find out just how brave you really are. Experiencing your bike doing the Watussi as it weaves and wobbles across is enough to check into a box of Depends. Fortunately, there is a cure. When buying tires avoid a tire with a center groove(s). This type of tire will lock onto bridge grates or rain grooves like white on rice giving you a miserable ride. Find a tire with an interrupted center groove or zigzag groove (see photos). Avon's Venom is the perfect tire for riding over these surfaces with not a care in the world. The front tire features an interrupted center groove and the rear has no center groove, allowing carefree handling in these types of situations. Get out of the groove and into a set of Avons.
