WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT OVERVIEW
Brass Balls Bobbers Charity of Choice
By Mouser

WWP The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) was founded to assist those men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq , Afghanistan , and other locations around the world. Many of the injuries are traumatic amputations, gunshot wounds, burns and blast injuries that will retire these brave warriors from military service.

The mission of WWP is to raise the awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, to help severely injured service members aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.

The Wounded Warrior Project provides tangible support for the severely wounded to help them on the road to heal both physically and mentally. What they viewed as a small contribution compared with what the warriors had sacrificed, is now WWP's signature program; WWP backpacks delivered bedside to wounded warriors.

WWP Backpacks Sent to Servicemen at Trauma Centers
Wounded Warrior Backpacks contain essential care and comfort items including clothing, toiletries, calling card, CD player, and playing cards, all designed to make their hospital stay more comfortable. They are provided to severely wounded service members arriving at military trauma centers.

Backpacks Sent into the Field
A smaller version of the WWP Backpack, Transitional Care Packs are sent directly to Iraq and Afghanistan to provide immediate comfort during a warrior’s relocation to the U.S. military trauma center.

MORE PROJECTS
WWP Outdoors
Through activities such as hunting, fishing, archery, boating, and camping, lifelong lessons and hobbies are taught and learned that wounded warriors can enjoy with friends and family, without the need for special equipment or ongoing training.

FISHING EXPEDITION - Kodiak, Alaska -- Sgt. Chris Middleton, who suffered traumatic brain injury and other severe injuries in Iraq in 2004, said that before coming to Kodiak as part of the Wounded Warriors Project, he never left his house. He didn't talk to people… Click here to read the Anchorage Daily News account of the expedition.
